It's a flat-out nothing story that could have come from any club. The poor little players didn't like being lectured and complained to the players association who then lectured the club. They are the problem, not the club.
The only question I would have was were individual players singled out in front of the group, which is pretty inappropriate.
However, reading between the lines with this and some other stories, it seems like the AFLPA is taking a line of “you can’t tell the players what to do”. If a club did want to take a stand on illicit drugs they would be severely hamstrung I think.
If does make you wonder what clubs are supposed to do. They cop the shit when a West Coast or Melbourne type situation arises, but it also seems like they’re expected to tip toe around the issue if they do want to address it. Seems like clubs are damned if they do, damned if they don’t when it comes to drugs.




We seem very reluctant to use the threat of the PSD. Have to maintain “good trading relations” or some such ideals. We are hoping its Pick 23 and nothing higher!
