Recommitted Elijah Hollands [OOC 2026] - Carlton ask him to explore trade options, stayed

If this article is the full truth it seems strange that Carlton wouldn’t at least give him next year to show he’s a changed man . . . which does make ne think there might be more to the situation.

But, if the situation is genuine like described if the article I wouldn’t be averse to him a year at the Tigers to see if he can turn himself around.

Sounds like manager spin. Hope he has overcome his problems but no club should take a chance for at least a year. He needs to prove at a lower level he can act to the standards required of a professional

Should spend the year in the VFL to show he's truly on top of things. Teams will no doubt take a chance on him if he can, talent is undeniable.

I can't see anyone biting in the trade period when Carlton have pretty much advertised they will be considering paying him out instead of keeping him on the list next year.

Seems like an obvious SSP train on player over summer, show a club that you are worthy of a list position by breaking your back to work through pre-season with no guarantee.

After hearing the full story no way blues can have him in 2026. Teammates would riot.

I think a club will give him a third chance on a speculative rookie deal but he needs to get outta VIC.

Shame that its come to this.

Very talent young footballer, who like many other young folk in society have their lives destroyed by drugs and bad choices.

Hope he gets his act together and in many ways, I don't really care so much about his football exploits, just would be nice for him to gain control of his life back, without the issues that he currently faces.

To be honest its pretty disappointing
I was big on him in his draft year
Could be special

If Carlton delist him id add him to our rookie list with 1 of the additional spots. Delist on first indiscretion

No real point not giving this a go since we have no real loss here

We have had good luck with getting players to train over summer for our last list spot.

He would be a great candidate for this.

Didn’t he need to get outta QLD as well?

He isn't capable of being a functioning member of society, let alone meeting the expectations of an AFL footballer.

If it can't work at Carlton with his brother in the same team, it can't work anywhere.

Career is done. I assume no-one gives him a 3rd chance. Shame.

I remember back in his draft year he was touted as a potential number one pick.

Now likely to be lost to AFL altogether.

I've seen some pretty damning comments in here on his character but all I can gather is he has substance problems and shacked up with a team mate's partner?

Shame, I remember being keen on him in that draft year.

It just so happens that the Hawks have an extra list spot available 👀

I wonder if we'd back ourselves in to sort him out.

Wants to stay at the Blues quite a lot so I'm tipping he and his manager will be pitching as hard as they can to stay one more year and not be paid out.

Do you think he's saying that because there's no interest elsewhere?

I'm seeing a lot of spin coming from the manager, trying to keep him in the AFL system.

I don't, but theres no real way of knowing what's true and what's not in this situation given nobody has really disclosed what actually occurred.

He's been training with the Carlton boys over the off season to get into top shape and left some comments on IG to Blues fans saying he's going to be playing with us in 2026 if he can.

Allegedly Walsh has offered to let him live with him to keep an eye on him and get him on the straight and narrow but once again... No facts to back that up.

Well, whatever ends up happening, hopefully he can get his life together.

Shame to see someone who had the world at their feet go and throw it all away.

We had Dayle Garlett do similar back in our threepeat era, Hodgey even took him in at one point but it didn't help.

Later on he returned to WA and ended up in prison for breaking into people's houses to fund a drug habit.

Yup, just had a look around and it's a mess.
