With that said did anyone call at the time that he'd wouldn't be playing again? Weird decision from the club in hindsight but I don't remember any external observers really question it.

If you find the original Brodie thread, let me know. I think I said something, but can't find the thread.

He was always one dimensional, and once Brayshaw and Serong got up to speed, he was always at risk of being squeezed out of the midfield assuming Fyfe was fit.

Had a good 2022 followed by a number of forgettable years. I anticipate our coaching staff changed the roles of our mids and he wasn’t fit enough to play any of the secondary roles. Serong is probably the only pure clearance mid in the team.

Complaining about the extension itself is a bit hindsight hero. After his 2022 season I don’t think anyone would have disagreed with two years. The fact that he had an extra year on top of that had no impact on anything except that he went to Port as a trade rather than a DFA

I don’t even know what it means, but I’ve decided it’s how I’m going to respond whenever someone makes an unsubstantiated negative comment on any thread.
I will leave you to work it out.But might just be a bit deep.

Unsubstantiated? We've been stagnant for a few years now and we trade out a player who helped us get to the finals for a used packet of of chips. We need depth inside in the midfield and we trade some of it away. We should be looking at skilled players by foot yet we bring in McVee. Club just reeks of failure at times, chasing players coming home without any thought.

Something had to have happened behind the scenes. Yes he was a limited player, no he wasn’t the answer to all of life’s problems, but to be such a big part of our 22 campaign, get dropped early in 23, and never get a single chance ever again is a pretty bizarre trajectory. Even with some of the midfield outs we’ve had.

Anyway I’m happy he gets another chance and always found it weird how our fans seemed to get a genuine kick out of him never getting a game with the “[PLAYERCARD]Will Brodie[/PLAYERCARD] fan club” comments. He seems like a good guy.

Pick 103 though lol.

McVee is better kick than Sharp, Banfield or Worner, so that’s an upgrade, Brodie wasn’t going to play for Freo again, so offloading his salary is good business. Unsubstantiated negativity if ever I’ve seen it

Brodie should have and could have and should be playing for us. We're one of the worst stoppage teams in the AFL and he was great at stoppages. Patrick Dangerfield shows you don't have to be elite by foot or track back to have an impact on games via stoppages. Yes he's not Dangerfield but he was needed, but Longmuir is a pathetically poor coach and it showed.

I honestly agree, if we found room for Fyfe in an elimination final we could have made room for Brodie, for whatever reason the coaches didn’t agree so he was by definition a list clogger with us, freeing up his spot and salary is the best for all concerned, Carr will play to his strengths and he’ll look great as long as you look at what his opponent is doing the other way.

Man I don't think we could've made finals this year if it weren't for Brodie's help

A half fit Johnson would've been chosen before him

Guys, can we please take the shitfighting to the [PLAYERCARD]Bailey Banfield[/PLAYERCARD] Appreciation Thread where it belongs.

I mean that's just factually wrong. We were 12th in centre clearances and 7th in Stoppage clearances. In 2022 we were 3rd in stoppage clearances with Brodie.

Sorry mate. Got my stats straight from the AFL article that wrote about how we were the best stoppage side in the comp in 2024. All thanks to Will of course.
