Have I done my calculations correctly that if WC bids on Uwland and Patterson at #1 and #2, you guys will be at max deficit and won't be able to match bids for the other boys?

I suspect if you were to bid at Patto at #2, you will get to keep him!

GOLD COAST SUNS

One of the big winners of the trade period, the Suns landed [PLAYERCARD]Christian Petracca[/PLAYERCARD] in exchange for three first-round picks while giving back three second-rounders. The Suns also struck a cheap deal for Western Bulldogs for Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in what’s essentially a free hit for the troubled forward. The balancing act for the Suns in a Petracca trade was to ensure they had enough leftover draft points for highly-rated academy prospects Zeke Uwland and Dylan Patterson, who could both receive bids inside the top five picks. There’s three other academy players tied to Gold Coast — Jai Murray, Koby Coulson and Beau Addinsall — but they mightn’t be able to get them all. While they lost Sam Flanders, [PLAYERCARD]Ben Ainsworth[/PLAYERCARD], [PLAYERCARD]Brayden Fiorini[/PLAYERCARD], [PLAYERCARD]Connor Budarick[/PLAYERCARD] and Malcolm Rosas Jnr, the club stood firm on keeping Bailey Humphrey. Suns list boss Craig Cameron was steadfast that the young gun was going nowhere, despite Humphrey expressing a desire to return to Victoria.

Who’s left: [PLAYERCARD]David Swallow[/PLAYERCARD] (retired), [PLAYERCARD]Sean Lemmens[/PLAYERCARD] (retired), Tom Berry (delisted), Lloyd Johnston (delisted), [PLAYERCARD]Alex Sexton[/PLAYERCARD] (delisted), Malcolm Rosas Jnr (trade, Sydney), Sam Flanders (trade, St Kilda), [PLAYERCARD]Ben Ainsworth[/PLAYERCARD] (trade, Carlton), [PLAYERCARD]Connor Budarick[/PLAYERCARD] (trade, Western Bulldogs), [PLAYERCARD]Brayden Fiorini[/PLAYERCARD] (trade, Essendon)

Who’s arrived: Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (trade, Western Bulldogs), [PLAYERCARD]Christian Petracca[/PLAYERCARD] (trade, Melbourne)

2025 draft picks

15, 18, 24, 28, 29, 36, 52

The most optimistic outcome for us:

— Uwland gets bid on at pick 4 at Richmond’s second pick because they want their first pick to be their preferred player and a top 3.

— Essendon are nice after the Fiorini deal and Demons are happy enough, so maybe Patterson slides to 10.

Worst case:
— I can’t see Uwland getting bid on at 1. If clubs didn’t bid on Daicos or Ashcroft, they ain’t bidding on Zeke. So worst case is Pick 2 for Uwland.
— And Pick 3 for Patterson if Richmond are being real jerks.

We still have pick 15 and 18 we can trade or bundle for points though.

Anyway, happy with this trade period. Got a big name in Trac. Kept Bear. Trades out some lower tier best 23 (though depth will be challenged a bit potentially) and should get several, if not all, the academy players we want. JUH is a free hit.

Most in the media think that we're now legit contenders and are mentioning us as possible Grand Finalists next year. Without having seen our new lineup play together, it would be hard to argue that we're not a top 4 team on paper. We certainly have the talent! FWIW I think Zeke Uwland finds his way into our round 1 team.

Thats pure shithousery from Essendon, I rate it
really makes Sam Mitchells two secret captains meetings look like second hand car sales stuff when they both don't happen and especially the messiest one they can't even get done, definitely hurt his "brand" and rep, which will come back to bite him when he starts in on Humper again next year

I expect him to go chips all in on Humphrey next year and Collingwood to offer Ben king a saints dekoning type godfather offer

If JUH works out, i'd consider letting it happen

Yep I reckon that’s right. Mitchell will go all in and try to land a difference maker. I think, in our favour, they’ll be motivated to ensure it actually happens too. They’ll definitely be more prepared to pay what’s necessary, and Cameron has proved this year that he’ll stand firm in what he wants

Collingwood for Ben King makes sense too and I think we’ll know early-ish in the season if he’s staying or going. He seems to really like it here, but money talks. I dunno, he seems like one of those core ‘stayers’ that helped stabilised us when we needed it. Hope he’s part of our success.

I reckon we'll bid on all of Uwland, Patterson, Annable and Dean at 3/4/5/6 because we'll want to bring pick 38 in a few spots.
