Parish gun player can't get on the park..Totally agree with you. Essendon don't even need Merrett as much as they needed that Hawthorn pick. I think they all drank too much of President Andrew Walsh's bathwater and forgot what their best options actually was.
They already have Redman and Parish in the midfield and have had to play Merrett off half back during the year, where he is a K-Mart Zorko at best. I think they need another forward to support Caddy, a dynamic midfielder like Robey and a genuine distributor off half back. (Plus a new coach, sorry but I don't rate Scott as a coach)
Most experts are saying that there are some really good kids early in this draft and IMO some of the early picks that would really suit Essendon.
Hawthorn's pick would have allowed them that extra good pick. Keeping Merrett is just going to keep them mid table and above the best picks next year.
If having coffee with Brad Scott wins you over, then you definitely need a bigger and better friendship groupEnd of the day it was arrogant of Sam Mitchell to go about it the way he did.
Club Captain only made it more arrogant.
Maybe the Brad Scott should have a coffee with Sicily.

So you are thinking other people's rubbish is better than our rubbishHow many list spots do we have available?
I wonder if Josh Fahey would be worth recruiting as a delisted free agent. I liked the trade Retcheko because we lack runners. Fahey would be another good one.
I’d almost be inclined to delist both Dow and Sonsie if needed. Especially if Phillips get delisted by North, I’d much rather he have a go in a new environment than Dow. I know Phillips was one of those Covid kids that didn’t get to have a final junior year but he was a standout player. I wonder if getting drafted to the hellhole that is north stumped his development. Only downside for having a free shot at Phillips is he’s similar to tarranto and hopper.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. So you are thinking other people's rubbish is better than our rubbish
You dont draft / Trade for players just because they can runOne man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
It really depends on the balance of teams needs. Players can get pushed out of teams because of excess in that position.
We lack runners, really badly! The two players I just mentioned could feel a need for much needed run. The would replace a Tresize for example who clearly doesn’t have the elite running in him.
For context, our 2km top 5 was:
Blight
McIntosh
Broad
Ross
Prestia
Our lack of runners is our highest need by the length of…… more than anyone at our club can run.
Not saying those players are world beaters but we have a need for speed..
You lost me at Parish gun playerParish gun player can't get on the park..
3 games 2025
12 the year before.
their MSD players got injured.
44 players used is an injury shit show. ...but fitness guy has been sacked.
Draper always injured too. 5 games.
Goldstein retiring .......ruck is their concern.
You can't put a Taranto in the same category as Castagna and Ralphsmith ... 3 time best and fairest winner at two clubsYou dont draft / Trade for players just because they can run
they need to be good footballers that can run and the fact they are delisted after 3-4-5 years usually means they are not that great at football
Ralphsmith can run
Taranto can run
Castagna could run
I think we need to get players that can football and fit our game plan first and if they can run then thats the player we should be looking at.
Well Jason Castagna is a premiership playerYou can't put a Taranto in the same category as Castagna and Ralphsmith ... 3 time best and fairest winner at two clubs
![]()
Castagna and Ralphsmith should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as Taranto ....Well Jason Castagna is a premiership player
which would you have if you are a player 2 x B & F or Premierships
Phillips is shit id rather keep sonsie than himHow many list spots do we have available?
