Carr gutted the place with Surjical precision. He took absolutely no prisoners. I would love to know what he said and did. Didnt Chad have a cry about how he got told he was done lol

Also interesting that Surj's wife is the President of West Adelaide FC. I wonder if that presents a conflict of interest at all, given Suj will be coaching a rival club in the same league.

How the hell she ended up there is baffling on another note. As someone that knows her pretty well.

Didn't know that. Remember in late 2022 she was appointed to the board as the Female Football Director to oversee their W program.

Found this story from February this year. They did appoint Nathan Basset head coach and to run the club's whole football program, about 4 weeks ago, so maybe things have improved since then.

SANFL club West Adelaide is at the crossroads, with its president and chief executive gone, a hefty quarter-of-a-million dollar loss about to be announced to members and doubts over the sustainability of its licensed club facilities at Richmond Oval.

While the Bloods avoided the SANFL wooden spoon for the first time in six seasons last year, finishing eighth, they are financially challenged and needing urgent redevelopment of their ground to keep up with competition tall poppies Norwood, Sturt and Glenelg and remain sustainable.

The mini-crisis has seen West female football director Alison Surjan - wife of North Adelaide coach Jacob Surjan - step in as interim president. With the support of the SANFL, she is involved in the search for a new CEO following the resignation of the highly-respected Conny Wilson in December. President Emma Grigson followed six weeks later.

Ive bern told other SANFL clubs have pitched in to pay him westies are that stuffed. I think it was a forced apoitment (kinda like a Barassi to Sydney, Roos to Melbourne situation) but a bloody good apointment, i actually have zero problems with westies, their base is small but loyal and theyve gone through alot of shit and thrashings. I actually wish em the best.

If the way they organise the Adelaide league games that are played there is anything to go by, I’m not surprised they are going broke.

At the recent Div2 grand final there were queues for 20 minutes for food and beer, the amount of business lost that day would be immense.

I have have always thought having a strong B grade was essential for a strong A grade.

I live in the past and I am sure when we won the 6 in a row the B grade won a few in a row to.

Insert (it's not the SANFL anymore).
You would think so, but following the VFL where the majority of the teams are AFL reserves sides, it seems the key to whether a reserves side will do well or poorly is almost entirely down to how injury affected the senior side is. I think the Maggies would’ve seriously struggled in the VFL had we played there this season. I guess it’s a bit harder to get a baseline in the SANFL when we are one of 2 reserves sides in the league but I reckon it’d be safe assume we finished below a healthier Crows side there.

I have some reservations with Surjan but in the end, you give the guy a chance, he obviously has a good working relationship with Carr and it mirrors the one they had at Norths and as a few people have said, it was likely that it was a good possibility to happen.

Ford reeled off a few stats and they've not bad.

In the end, it is important to have a good, competitive Magpies team where development is not how you train but how you play.

One other stat about Surjan, he took over as coach in 2020 after Carr left North having finished 9th in 2019 with 4 wins.

It was a shortened Covid season, but he lifted North to second place in the minor round with 10 wins in 14 rounds and made the grand final where Woodville were too good.

I'm a fan of Surj, every time I interacted with him at North he was quite fun. Not the leadership type that works on me personally but I'm not a Magpie so that doesn't matter.

I wonder where he'd be without Josh tapping him on the shoulder?

She was on the WAFC board while he was coaching North Adelaide. What makes him coaching Port Adelaide any different?
