Why wouldn't the AFL/Radio Stations make radio commentaries from games available for download?

Each game has got a number of radio feeds available, so why not make them $1.49 or something in iTunes for people to download. The fact that they're lost once the game is done is a backwards way of thinking in this day and age.

Would love to listen to the 3AW commentary of yesterday's WCE/Carlton match. Hell, would love to listen to the MMM version as well as the ABC.

Go to iTunes, download them, whack them on the iPod or iPhone and listen to them as I go to and from work each day. Would be great.

Strong agreement from me! Love listening to calls of Hawks games, especially when we have won, and each broadcasting team brings different spin so would happily listen to three different calls for each game. Also think it would increase the audience for the smaller broadcasters.

I'd love it too, but the stations have ONLY just got around to putting all the pre-game stuff up in podcast form, so I think the days of getting full call replays are a fair way away.

Your second best option is to record it yourself. If you've got an iPhone, the TuneIn Pro app has a really nifty record feature which allows you to record the entire call as an MP3 file. That means you can save it for later, scroll back and forth, pause it, etc. It's fantastic. There's even a timer feature that will fire up and record the game even if you aren't able to do it yourself.

I think there'd be an issue with sponsors and advertisers. You'd have to negotiate the fact the they're getting exposure in a whole other medium. Do they edit the ads out of The Rub podcasts? And add different opening and closing advertisements? This would have something to do with it.

Doesn't TuneIn cut out when the games start and tell you to go to the AFL website?

Would love for them to offer and archive of classic match calls, grand finals in particular (who doesn't love the multiple radio commentary audio tracks on recent GF DVDs?)

I'm still after the 774 call of the 2007 GF, haven't been able to get it anywhere. :(

The ABC website had podcasts of some classic GF's a couple of years ago, not sure if they're still available.

I remember downloading the final quarter of the first GF from '77.

Does it record when listening to the radio on your phone, or do you just set it up next to a radio and record? Can you also get rid of ads later on?

The feed is streaming through the phone, and your phone records the stream. So yeah, in your words it records as you listen to it on the phone. You can even turn off the sound completely if your busy/on the phone and the record function will still record the stream.

For whoever asked before, The Rub edits out all ads, as does the 3AW pre-game podcasts.

Most of each game broadcast is upload by the great youtuber Michael Marshall to his channel

Radio calls of every game throughout the year from all of the main networks are also uploaded to a (quite) well-known footy torrent site. Adios!!
