A few comments online seem to suggest they do that so Hetfield can have a cigarette break.
Would much prefer an extra song than these doodles, but I always imagined it was for a bit of a break. More so now with being old and I’d imagine shows are much more demanding for James and Lars. In particular Lars. We saw Matt Cameron quit PJ because it became just too hard playing live 2 hour shows.

I saw them in Perth. I was about 10 meters from the stage. There are many songs I wish they played instead of a few they did but I have no complaints. It was a great concert and I came home happy I saw it.

I will say I am a bit jealous Adelaide got Leper Messiah. That’s one song I was hoping for.
Fans who have seen bands many times will always have something to say about set lists.

But at least on 2010 we got Orion dedicated to Cliff. That’s a pretty special moment anywhere in the world.

Well, I have calmed down a little since last night. I will say that this - the opening 1-2 of Creeping Death & For Whom the Bell Tolls was incredible. Freaking amazing. I was looking at the boy thinking "now THIS is metal". Then it went downhill in a BIG way. Smothered in a wet blanket of intolerable MMM songs. Kirk & Rob's duet was cringeworthy and embarrassing.

People hang crap on Fuel and Memory remains but they were really well received by the crowd.

Wether people like it or not that era of Metallica might even be more popular than their first 3 albums.

Not saying it's better bit the crowd was more into those songs than Creeping Death.

I mean if it were up to me I'd be having Whiplash, Trapped Under Ice, Frayed Ends etc etc, I was never going to be 100% happy. 2010 we got so many randoms I can't really complain about anything further i reckon.

I've spoken to a few people who went who only knew Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman, they alll loved it, so I think they achieved their aims.

They sure were well received by the younger punters around us - particularly the guy in front of me in a Batman windcheater - no argument on that.

True to form, Metallica fans love a good whinge..
  • Too much new stuff
  • wheres the bass?
  • its not my metallica anymore.
  • too much snare
  • they should play random filler song from RTL...
my missus only really knew the black album songs, and said she recognized a few others from when ive been listening to them.. but she loved the concert.

Also on Metallica, if they had spent their career catering to the thrash metal fans they would've played Festival Hall. By catering to the Triple M set, they play Marvel Stadium.

They're the fans who have bought Lars a mansion with a pool.

I won’t be paying to see Metallica again, it’s just not worth the admission price now for me.

Excellent production, but they’re getting sloppy and missing notes now due to their age so it’s just not what I want to outlay money for.

Still enjoyed the show mind you.

Ol' dwwaino spends all his time on the gaming board these days! Still rocking the Mgla avatar though

Mgla, Drudkh and Blut Aus Nord is still all I listen to. Well I've added the industrial band Health. But in terms of black metal I feel like the best stuff has already been created and nothing new is possible. Also the scene has been infiltrated by posers and ruined by cancel culture.
