They can clearly see that it is imminent that they are going to be released anyway when the Democrat sanator adds her signature, so they want to sign it now so that they will not be known as Pedo protectors to their constituents.

The fact they need to preface their comment with a line like this just tells me that they are fully aware of what they are going to say is morally wrong, but just don't want to be judged for it being morally wrong.

I thought they’d probably destroyed or altered the files by now, or redacted them so much to help him out, but I thought I heard the other day that the FBI kept multiple copies in different locations - making the task of destroying evidence and keeping whistleblowers quiet that much more difficult. Don’t know what to believe?

It's a rookie error, but journalism rarely reports verbatim and quotes from different parts of a conversation are often run together. The mistake was not having an obvious cut to show it wasn't sequential. But let's not pretend that what was ultimately produced wasn't a closer reflection of reality than what he is claiming. He absolutely encouraged people to march on the capital, his language was incendiary, and any comments about peaceful protest were short and half-hearted.
