Bodhi would have whooped his ass growing up lol
Bodhi seems like more the blue collar, tough, battler footballer and Zeke is the slick, classy, skilled version Certainly a very mature young bloke focused and serious about his future
It's probably partially why Zeke has such a high football IQ because he would come up against the brute strength of a bigger body like Bodhi and he had to use his head to beat him because he was never going to overpower him. The smartest footballers are often the smaller ones and that's probably out of necessity.

Zeke just so happens to be the same height as Rowell (180cm) but I do believe Zeke is more athletically gifted than Rowell in just about every area. We saw how much of a difference the addition of genuine speed/acceleration made for Rowell this season when he'd win the ball and burst out of packs. Zeke is fortunate enough to be blessed with natural speed so that's going to hold him in good sted in the AFL, no matter where he lines up. We also know Zeke's vertical leap ranked top 3 in both categories during the combine this year so he's certainly got Rowell covered in that area as well.

It's probably not a stretch to say Zeke's footskills are better than Rowell's as well. However, what Zeke doesn't have (yet) is the contested ball winning ability on the inside that has become a hallmark of Rowell's game. Zeke is still more suited to playing on the outside, but I would like to see him get some minutes in the middle next year because I think he can be a future inside midfield star of the competition. Start him at halfback and give him small patches in the middle so he can develop in a very similar way to Nick Daicos. That's what I'd be doing with Zeke next year.

Zeke will never be anything like Rowell. Totally different players.
Agreed. I was just pointing out that I'd like Zeke to work on his inside game because I think it's the one area that he lacks in, but that will come with experience if we give him time in the middle.

He hasn’t played a single AFL game yet.
Undoubtedly he’s got talent but let’s give him a chance to see what he can show us in the top flight before we cream ourselves too hard.

It’s not as if he’s even a lock to start the year in the afl team.

Suns squeeze has Academy prospect preparing for life beyond Carrara

"My dream has to always been to play for the Suns … but I believe any team that puts their trust in me, that's the team I want to be at," Addinsall said.

"There’s a fair few talented boys in this age group at the Suns, so to get them all would be difficult. It's not my job, which is lucky.

"They (Gold Coast) said they'd like to have me on the list, it just depends if they have the points.

It could be best that addinsall goes elsewhere. If suns draft him he may spend 3 years in the 2's then look for more opportunities elsewhere. If he goes and gets games early and becomes a ready made recruit for us in a few years with afl games under his belt.
So if we aren’t able to get one of Addinsall, Coulson or Murray which two do you think would fit better into the team?

Coulson will be late pick, no issue to match. So it's between Addinsall and Murray. It looks like most people prefer Murray.

Personally, it would be good for Addinsall and Coulson to be drafted by other teams to develop. Very limited opportunity with Suns.

I always admire your optimism. Remember your comments on Lombard? It takes time usually. For me Zeke was quite underwhelming in VFL after injury this year. Not sure he can develop into inside midfielder. He does not look like one.

I don't expect too much from him in his first year.

You overrate draftees abilities way to much. You blabbed on about how Jed was ready to come in straight away and make a difference. How has that worked out? Stop putting such high expectations on kids

What are your hopes for Lombard this year?

It's going to be really sad if we don't draft a talented local kid that's openly admitting that it's always been his dream to play for us. That's a luxury that we've seriously lacked in the past. I personally think we find a way to draft them all on Wednesday night. This is the kind of draft class that can set you up for 10 years and I think we're allowing the story about potentially losing an academy product because we want the southerners to think we're in a difficult situation that could result in losing a player or two.

Fair.

Fair.
If both Addinsall and Murray attract bids in the first round, one will miss out as we would not have enough points probably. WB apparently are very keen on Murray (pick 14), Cats too (pick 19).

Not sure. Probably not high hopes. Shoulder reconstruction set him back. He looked raw, played only 4 games. Still to learn a lot.

I have higher hopes for Rogers.
It's probably just a coincidence, but interesting that we lost 3 games that he started and his win was a sub on when we were up by plenty.

His rookie me central draft profile
An explosive, hard-nosed, and relentless ball winner capable of running in waves and rolling forward to hit the scoreboard.

Sounds pretty much like half forward Touk Miller to me. You would think that playing on the wing should be within his capabilties. There is probably a spot up for grabs with Clohesy, Uwland, Lombard all contenders. I hope to see him get a bit more of a go this year.

Kall Burns on Gettable tomorrow at 9 am AEST.
I don't think I've ever seen an interview with him where he says anything interesting. He is like a politician in his ability to talk a lot and say very little.

Well I won't be getting up at 5am to watch it, that's for sure....:'(

The academy does seem to do a good job of pumping out high quality, driven individuals these days, Addinsall the latest. Don’t get too many… overpowering young egos come through. If any of the locals already on our list don’t make it, it won’t be due to a lack of try.
