North were apparently very keen on Lindsay at their pick.

Do any of you have footage of Don Pyke blowing his lid before making this selection?

Seeing McCarthy actually hit a target was a breath of fresh air so I think we will enjoy seeing this guy even more.
100%. One of our teams issues is our 2-way running. Well if you actually hit most of your targets, you dont need to be chasing tail as often after a turnover. Lindsay is a great get.

Very excited about this pick. When he cracks the side it's going to make the game a lot more fun to watch. Few better things in life than watching a player pull of a beauty of a kick. Particularly when he's an Eagle

Plays round 1 for mine.

If you've got an asset that can walk into your side and easily be the best kick in the team bar McCarthy (another bloke who did just that) you shuffle things to make it happen.

Should be 100% getting full chip scab licence like McKercher, Sheezel and Dickoss have had at times. Every full back kick in, every exit from defense should just go through him if possible. Absolute disgusting handball receives should now be the main part of his game as far as I'm concerned.

I think there are far better options at pick 1. My pick would be Sharp but I've been warming to someone like Lindsay or Grlj.
I posted this back in June so very happy with the Lindsay pick (never mind that I shit on Duursma in the same post)

Absolutely, we have been in dire need of a half back pig to rack up possessions and lace out targets. Should fit the role beautifully

He's going to be an absolute fantasy pig. Supreme kick to handball ratio.

I suppose it’s a good thing he went in the top 20 to guarantee us 3 years, very excited for what he’ll be able to bring to our side, especially if it let’s people like McCarthy move up the ground even more.

Which is one reason why it is frustrating when fans scream "MOAR MIDFIELDERS!". We have deficiencies all over the ground, and tidying some of those up will have a positive impact on the midfield.

I'm tempted to call it Moneyball, getting bang for a limited buck, just so those fans will better understand. But it's really not, it's just rational list building.

its not 2 picks
Hope we dont judge him like that. Very few kids are worth 2 picks.

He 100% cost us two picks. That's just a fact unfortunately.

That's on the club for being stupid and incompetent, nothing to do with Lindsay.

Clay Hall also cost us two picks a couple years ago. It is what it is.

I don't get the comments around attaching his draft price or position to his success.
Like all the other draft picks he didn't choose when, how he was selected, if you have an issue with the selection process there are other threads to whinge in about the management.
Here is hoping for a long and successful career with the Eagles for Josh!

Watching players hit incredibly difficult kicks through the centre to open up the game is one of the most exhilarating parts of our game. I’m stoked to now have two recent additions that not only have the skills to do it but also the balls. Gonna be great to watch.

Duursma bites off some rippers too, so there’s 3 now

Do we think they turn him into an unaccountable wing to get some cheap early touch, or the classic HBF stat padder which seems to be the way that lots of teams approach these high usage rookies?

Looking at our backline I don’t see where we squeeze him in otherwise, in the ultra short term.

Ginbey Edwards Hough
McCarthy Young (Baker/Duggan/Lindsay)

Probably have to move McCarthy and Baker up the ground to get him in.

I can see him slotting in there, perhaps in McCarthy's spot

Lindsay reminds me a fair bit of Sheezel

I can imagine him being our general down there for many years to come

HBF for mine. I expect Baker, Hough, McCarthy to be used further up the ground or in the midfield at times. I think you get more value from elite disposal out of defense than on a wing (they push up the ground a lot in modern football).

Not speaking from any experience but does he have the running ability to match? Either way lots to like about his attributes and obvious character leading Vic Country
The running ability will be the main question.
If all he works on is endurance and speed in his first pre-season so he can play the seagull scab role at half back id be happy
