Been reported that Carlton might try to trade back from 28.

If we want to move up for say PouMk2 it wouldn’t surprise me if we offered them 40 and our 2026 2nd for 28.

That would help Carlton with points/picks for Walker next year.
We dont have a 2026 2nd rounder anymore

They are trying to NFL it but without any of the magic or the aura of it.
Its like trying to remake a classic but ending up with an F grade slasher film
Its so confected. Amazingly the next pick is magically in as the interview ends.

They still don’t get it. Just can the system. It’s the exclusive access that is the problem.
How about this (using Brisbane as an example)

You can't match a bid on any player taken before your natural draft position.

Brisbane's natural first pick is 18, so no matching anyone before that pics.

Gold Coast's natural first round pick was 13, so they could only match bids from 13 onwards (they miss out on matching Uwland and Patterson)

Carlton's natural pick is 8, Dean is bid on at 3. Can't match.

It would force clubs to give up fair draft captial to move up the order and take their player (Eg, Carlton trade up to pick 3 to get Dean)

Ablett says full credit to GC for gettin four gifts in the first round.
Tells us not to panick because the next drafts wont be the same.
Wow thats a relief. I feel better about GC's 12 frdps in the past tbree years now.

"This won't happen again in 2026 and 2027"

It literally happened in 2023. Walter, Read, Rodgers, Graham. 4 Picks in the first 26. But I'm sure it won't happen ever again.
