Didn't someone say Tommy's father held him back from doing a heap of gym work? I'm sure I read that somewhere.
That was the talk.
I feel like I also read that in an article, he never entered a gym until after his 16th year

Really doesn't sit well with me the McGuane situation
Why? No other club took him…Surnames don’t get you drafted. I watched the metro games and he was poor. Same with the vfl. We’ve been burnt plenty of times before. You wouldn’t have any idea who he was if he wasn’t for his surname. He’s not the only kid that’s missed out on being drafted.

We're not obliged to pick a kid because of his name, or because he's been in and around the club for a good while.

The fact that only 60 players were taken in the main draft and no one even rookied him says a bit.

It feels terrible. I absolutely loved watching his dad and father sons are the best feelgood story.

But I would always prefer that our staff recruit who they think will be the best fit for the list.
We recruited both of Gavin Brown's sons, Brayden Shaw and Will Kelly as F/S, none of whom were any good.
There's a romance with F/S, but there's no guarantee that offspring will live up to their parents.
Even Josh Daicos was a late pick, and took a while to hit his straps.
His younger brother, though, will rank amongst our GOATs in due course.
I hope Tom knuckles down, and that we pick him up next year.

It's not just the name, it's all the chatter about him for the past year or more. Even Fly mentioned him often and how good he was going and how he was going to help improve the side or did I imagine that?
He's gone from the golden child at top rung of the ladder to the bottom of the heap.

Barham.
One and a half Clokes. ( Jason was not a complete bust)

We also passed on a few who had decent careers at other clubs

I wonder if we'll keep the #34 guernsey free again this year..
Thats a real watch. We'll have plenty of numbers for the draftees. Even without 34

6
18
32
37
40
41
43
does anyone go high and take Cox's 46?

Yep, lapidation is a good way to cure 17 year old boys with excessive levels of confidence.

no prizes for being first loser. His fate was decided when we took four players instead of three in the National Draft with three of those players also being mids.

He had no chance today with a small forward providing a point of difference compared to our other draftees

In reality it wasn’t a choice between Tom and Jai.

It was a choice between Tom and Angus
Um, it was, Shane O'Bree said it was a choice between Jai and Tom so it's quite bizarre you trying to misrepresent the facts. One player away from being on the list so the the club must think he can play, just the facts champ.
