Terrible development ideas in this thread.

Start by sticking him in the WAFL and play him as a forward ruck. If he earns a call up play him as a forward ruck at AFL level.

Nah, gotta follow the tried and true Brander method of shoehorning in high draft picks into the side no matter what.

Easy to start him as that, then pick a role for him later.

I think Blicavs level is a poor example to use for him, should be aiming much higher.
Hes so unique I dont think there is an example that does what he can be justice

Blicavs is a nice player who is a great athlete. CDT is(should be) a very good player and a great athlete

Just throw him somewhere on a wing as a runner then work him into the midfield/backp ruck as he physically develops. Easiest transition ever. Basically a wingman -> mid development
I think where he starts will be the key to his career. He could be anything but that runs the risk of him being nothing. He's years away from being able to regularly ruck, so I figure it's either wing or 3rd tall.

The most valuable role for us long term is for him to be a KPF who rucks and does it in tandem with A Reid. I'd rather start him as a third tall to get his confidence, moving to stints at CHF/ruck over the years.

Wing seems to run the risk of no man's land if he can't read the play or have elite running or day 1.

The evidence is that he has bioth in spades (if he can't read the play or have elite running or day 1.)

Duursma should've left him #1, so he could follow in the storied footsteps of our most recent small forwards Liam Ryan and Mitch Brown.

I believe he can though

This is more or less what ive said id like him to play when people ask for do we fit him in.
A high half forward or a wing role that is a very awkward matchup, while hes still got the attributes for the role.

Smalls wont outmuscle him, talls cant keep up.

Gets him around the ball too, as well as some freedom to be a target up forward and help be a marking target while rebounding from d50
Sounds like the Brander role. If that’s all he becomes I’ll be disappointed. He was taken pick 4, we need him to play ruck or KPP to justify that high pick.

So many unrealistic expectations for a first year tall.

A 2km time trail doesn't make you match fit for AFL level running on a wing.

There is a big difference between reading the ball well post stoppage and playing by as an effective winger. CDT gets his ball a little bit everywhere, but ruck is the base that put a floor on his disposal numbers. Like it or not CDT comes with a negative differential when it comes to ground ball and that's before he's gassed.

Just play the poor kid in a role he's competitive at, at a level he's ready for.

Its the Dan Curtin role

Why do you think thats all he would become?

Hes far more talented than Brander, and he wont be a pure hitout ruckman at any stage of his career or neither a genuine KPF so it doesnt make sense to necessarily shoehorn him into one of those roles.
We can be creative

Google suggest may have been italian/aboriginal. Not sure why thoughts Sri Lankan. Guess it was 20+ years ago when he ran/hobbled around for us.

Merenda definitely not indigeneous, Sam Newman tried to ask him about his indigeneous heritage in an interview and Merenda said what are you talking about i'm Italian.
