Lots to unpack here but suffice to say that we can all agree that there are some good things that Sonja and the Board have achieved especially in the context of on field performance.

The bottom line though is that the men's football program under Sonja's watch (as Chair or on the Board) has deteriorated to become the least successful, least relevant and least respected program in the competition - and by a long way.

This is the number 1 metric that a professional sporting organisation needs to be measured against and it has been a complete failure.

Sure Sonja and the Board don't massage the players etc but they do set the culture of the organisation and the culture we have now at the NMFC is the antithesis of a competitive, work hard, winner takes all culture - the culture that defined our 2 successful era's.
That bolded bit is straight up wrong.

Fair enough that you've repressed the memory of how bad we were when Sonja took over then sacked Noble but like it or not we've improved since then. To the point where last season the men's side had its best onfield results since the last season where Brad Scott coached us.

That's a fact, as anyone who can count would agree.

First she had to stop the rot then we had to start improving and before we even finished the first bit we (not Hawthorn, who were responsible for it) got slammed with the racism bullshit. Despite all that we have measurably improved since Sonja took over. On the ladder and the w/l tally.

If you think we haven't improved enough ... well fair enough. The first two months of this next season will be a big test in that regard.

Even so we're still only three years into a five year project and the reason we gave Clarkson (and by defaulkt her admin) five years is cos of how ****ed up we were when they started trying to fix things.

Sure Sonja and the Board don't massage the players etc but they do set the culture of the organisation and the culture we have now at the NMFC is the antithesis of a competitive, work hard, winner takes all culture - the culture that defined our 2 successful era's.

This is also incorrect. If it was correct our women's team wouldn't embody those very things.

Its on the men that they're not doing that stuff.

Its on them and Clarkson to fix it. His reputation and Sonja Hood's admin are riding on that.

There's no correlation between DYs whinging and him being right wing. Lots of boushie w***ers will hide behind rainbow flags and happily sell out the rest of humanity to keep getting paid by the Klept. Fair chance you're one them (please prove me wrong one day.)

Oh, you're back.

You know, during your absence, there was a marked absence of this kind of bait, personal sniping, and attempted point scoring. The forum was the best it has been in years.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Parallel Universe, Crocks takes over halfway through ‘16, Scott never coaches again due to back injury.
If only.

But it was '15 and that was the point from where we went on to win 20 of 25 games including the last 9. In one season that's a flag. I've always wondered how much of that was due to Crock... after seeing his AFLW tenure I wonder even more cos Brad didn't really show anything like that at any other time.

You just sniped in exactly the same way to DY because you wanted to frame him as something he's not. There's no difference so don't pretend this only comes from me. if you pissed off for that long (like I did) the same thing would happen. Also ... that comment is way milder than most of the shit I said to you back then.

As for your opinion on the quality of this forum ... well that's your opinion. Plenty of people have said they're happy to see me back, even ones I often disagree with (like DY.) I've no doubt you and several others don't feel that way. That's your tough luck I guess.

I agreed with the majority of what you said and just responded in a manner you don't like to your personal attack on someone else.

Did you even notice I agreed with you?

The ultimate parallel universe for mine is the end of 2009. The final 3 contenders for the job were Croc, Bard and Dimma. We ended up with by far the worst of the 3 candidates.

Appoint Croc or Dimma and I have no doubt we wouldn't have ended up in the whole we did, maybe even won a flag in the mid 2010s as well.
Bloody state vectors collapsing the wrong way...

I’m disappointed he hasn’t introduced his hot soup to the AFLW… 🤣 Maybe, he has…

That's already been done, years ago. We need a new one.

Funny thing is someone complaining about religion and politics mixing with sport clearly doesn’t know the history of North Melbourne. Probably the club with the closest association with the Labor party, I mean we had Australian Labor Party leader Arthur Calwell as Club President for 6 years. Plus historically the club had very strong links with Catholicism and the trade union movement with the likes of Frank Crean & Simon Crean etc. Both of whom went on to be Federal Labor party ministers and party leader in the case of the latter. Simon Crean was the clubs no. 1 ticket holder before Ricky Ponting.
So, yep, this politics thing has been part of the club since the early days with blokes like George Prendergast who was Club President (1902-1911) while he was also a State Labor MP.
Somehow I don't think the club would openly endorse the ties to Arthur Calwell today given his views.

Missed this change. Agree with it, the maximum term limitation is pointless.

Sonia was already on the board but took over from the most brownfingered leader in our history. So our onfield results aren't all on her governance, not yet anyway.

If she's the best person for the role she can keep it forever as far as I'm concerned.

It's just an extension of an additional term. Maximum is 12 years.

North Melbourne members have narrowly voted against proposed changes to the club’s constitution at the annual general meeting on Thursday.

Members were asked to vote on two changes – the first would have enabled the club to meet pre-requisite requirements to achieve B Corp certification.

A second change included provisions for the club president to be eligible to be re-elected as a director for one additional term.

Both proposed changes were presented as one resolution.

The member vote for the proposed changes was 73.5 per cent in favour of the changes, and 26.5 per cent against.

Club rules dictate that any change to the existing constitution requires 75 per cent support of members who vote on the change, whether by proxy or in person

“We’re disappointed the proposed changes weren’t passed,” president Dr Sonja Hood AM said.

“Pleasingly, an overwhelming majority of the members who voted supported the proposed changes.

“We respect the ultimate decision and we will take time to reflect on why we didn’t get the required votes. We’ll then consider our next steps on both proposals.”

The first one is of real interest, it would have reduced our tax massively.
Not sure why that was voted down.

Maybe more to it. And really who cares how long a pres gets, we don't have a queue of candidates lined up.
Besides on field results Sonja's had a very solid year.

They were tied into the same resolution apparently so you couldn't vote yes for one and no for the other.

Personally I would've voted yes to both, but strategically one resolution is a bit of a mess up...did they think it was a mere formality to get up?
