THE WESTERN Bulldogs have delisted Jason Johannisen, the only Norm Smith medallist in the club's history.

"I still believe I can contribute at AFL level and will continue to pursue those opportunities in the near future, while harbouring ambitions of remaining in the game post career within the development and player welfare space."
Gone to Hawthorn as player development
We used to have close links to Hawthorn I believe

Impressive profiles

The East Fremantle Football Club (EFFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new directors to its board, Bianca Starcevich, Sandra Di Girolamo and Jim Muskarovsky, bringing a wealth of experience and passion to the Sharks’ leadership team.
Just need some on field recruits now.....Woey needs to get his skates on.

Can see a couple of new names of EF playing list....a tall forward from Norwood and an ex Brisbane VFL listed mid.....hopefully the start of EF summer recruiting.....though next week's draft will say more on who's available and who's not.

Anybody you think have a good chance?
I have no good idea about most drafts.
Looks as though no junior was drafted . No Teakle or Woewoden either. Hopefully they are at Sharks next season.
A Teakle is captain of the womens team. Could be enuf of an incentive

Mitch Zadow training with Port Adelaide
Good on Zadow....talented underrated footballer....great opportunity for him to show his wares.....EF preseason starts formally starts next week......only Smartt officially announced as a newbie.....can see a few other newbies listed, but nothing announced.....time will tell very soon if Woewodin has been busy on the recruiting front. Mentioned in a recent EFFC - Shark Tales podcast, that once the draft was done, more will be known player recruitment wise.

WA Football can confirm several rule changes will be implemented for the 2026 Sullivan Logistics WAFL season.

All WAFL competitions will align fully with the AFL’s updated Laws of the Game, including associated umpiring processes and interpretations.

The changes are listed below:

  1. Discontinuation of the centre bounce
  2. Removal of the substitute (AFL Rule), enabling 23 players to be selected for each match.
  3. Remove the requirement for a player to start in the goal square at each centre ball-up.
  4. Introduce a free kick for the last disposal out of bounds in between the 50m arcs.
  5. At all centre ball-ups, a competing ruck cannot cross the centre circle line and engage with the opposition ruck, prior to contesting the football.
  6. Around the ground, the Umpire may restart play without a nominated Ruck being present.
  7. A shrug (in a tackle) will be deemed prior opportunity (i.e. as an attempt to evade or fend an opponent).
  8. A player must stand if they are within the protected area (i.e. within 5m) when a mark or free kick occurs.
  9. Align the interpretation of ‘reasonable time’ for a player to bring the football back into play from a behind being scored and the time allowed for a set kick around the ground. Currently, reasonable time for kick-ins is 12 seconds, whereas around the ground it is eight (8) seconds. Players will now be allowed eight seconds in both instances.

Apparently we are focused on using our young players in the league. Having a lot of depth and playing most of them.
I guess it's code for ' we are skint....ex Freo rookie Eric Benning down at EF.....along with Smartt are the only recruits of such.....not sure the deal with Teakle or Woewodin jnr, but one can only hope they might link up in the New Year, if they move back to WA....but money talks these days.

Sounds like Woewodin and Teakle have signed with Collingwood in the VFL, trying to keep that AFL flame burning.....Can't blame them for rolling the dice....money no doubt better to.

Thanks for the heads up, Andana. Couple of things coming in the post for me and the lil guy.
As an aside, it was nice to see that they have updated the website, too. With all due respect to whomever threw up the last creation, it was a Geocities era relic. There is some new energy in the communications; they have a podcast going on, more focus on the traditionally excellent WAFLW side. Pairs well with the new facilities.

I don't think the WAFLW side would agree with you there mate....apparently many an unhappy WAFLW camper....and some are walking with their feet to other clubs to feel loved or voicing their frustration on social media......but agree the updated comms is definitely a better look.

I’m sorry to hear that, if that is the case. I’d heard some scuttlebutt somewhat connected to this, but I didn’t possess enough insight to validate it.

I guess my comment on the appearance of the WAFLW team being more prominently on the site, is reflected by the fact that they had been pretty much invisible previously. Let’s hope the course is corrected.

It's been pretty sad to read....who knows the truth....there is one side that believes their side.....the other side that believes their side....and some where in the middle lies the real truth. TBH both sides were separate entities I believe before the one name umbrella.....just the WAFL and their need to do the PC thing and jump on the inclusion band wagon to improve their brand. Would love to know if supporters of either team, would even know the skipper of the other team they don'r follow.....even they are both representing EFFC!
