Yes Australia, that's where we live and what impacts us.

I can't say I was shocked.

If people were honest most would admit they knew something like this would eventually happen and where it would come from.

And they were right.

As soon as it happened I posted here and said I wouldn't be surprised if it was either a Muslim extremist/sympathiser or a White supremacist/Nazi sympathiser. Both entirely possible.

I'm shocked and appalled at the outcome, but I'm honestly not shocked that it happened.

You shouldn't need more than 2 even as a livestock / farmer
We had one (bolt action .22)
Grandpa had half a dozen but kept his .308 and double barrel shotgun and gave up the rest

And you don't always need a 308, so you also have a .22.

And you don't always need a bullet where a slug will do, so an air rifle.

There's a four gun reason.

Question. How long have they been here, how did they get here, who pushed for them to be here.
Who opened the cracks that got them here.

Involved with Islamic State

Joins a Gun Club

That should be enough i would think
I tend to agree - trouble is matters of National Sy often go undisclosed to local law enforcement and certainly gun licensing.

It’s a kind of ‘we do our thing, they do theirs’, mainly to protect assets who may be jeopardised if the subject is made aware that they are a POI.

It’s NOT an ideal situation.

That's wrong. She is happy for any migrants to come here as long as they assimilate and adopt and contribute to Australia. That sounds reasonable to me.
I had a recent hospital stay.

Many of those who looked after me in hospital - in fact easily the majority - were clearly immigrants. From the surgeon and attending staff, to the doctors, to the nurses, to the ICU staff, in fact all the way down the line to the cleaners.

And they all seemed to have assimilated just fine.

It's come up in multiple cases already, but gun registration databases are not nationally linked. Which seems like a very obvious failing and something that should be relatively easy to fix.

Could well be that ASIO simply don't have access directly to state weapons registries, to link alerts back to gun owners.

Police quite possibly just froze. It's not at all uncommon. Cops don't leave the academy suddenly becoming bulletproof robots who can switch off all emotion in an extreme situation. They're just everyday people who happen to be police.

They also have far more to consider when firing their gun than the perpetrator. It's an open 360 degree situation. They are trained to be very considered when firing their guns, they don't just charge in blazing away.

In any case, there can be few things easier or more cowardly than judging the response of people in an extreme situation from behind a keyboard.
agree, people criticising the cops have been watching too many Clint Eastwood movies.

Why are they cops then and why are they allowed to carry a gun? Nobody is saying they should rush in like rambo or John Wick but if you are hired as a cop and carry a weapon, you are obligated to return fire and not cower behind a vehicle as videos have shown, while civilians do the work for you. The cops first on the scene were a disgrace, or their commander was for telling them to wait. Either way, what are we paying them for. None of us are allowed to carry a gun now which I am fine with. But we rely on those that are allowed to, to act in our defence. Many lives wouldve been saved had the first cops on the scene at least fired in the direction of those shooters. But they didnt and the shooters did what they liked and stood and picked off targets.

We had 1 x .22 at our place in the bush

Grandpa had a .308 for hunting and killing livestock - the shotgun was pretty much exclusive for snakes and pest control

Don't think you grasped the post

Those who are coming at this officer for being scared are a disgrace.

cops are cops, you are getting a bit carried away and possibly thinking a normal cop should be as highly trained as the special Armed Forces. sadly the majority of cops now are just babysitters to youth crime, buried in paperwork and then have to watch them crims walk free from the counts time and time again. only a fool would believe that a young cop should be putting their life/s on the line against maniacs with guns and possibly explosives

Unless you are an indigenous Australian (and technically even they are immigrants from a very very long time ago) everyone in this country is an immigrant.

I think you are confusing immigration with white supremacy.
this POV is so dumb clearly immigrants are different once a country already has it's identity and lifestyle

They got off about 80 shots in about 6 minutes before any fire was returned, it was a terrible look, no shortage of police around Bondi Beach either
