So what do we think is the English mindset now. Go for it with nothing to lose? or bat for a draw?
A draw means we retain the ashes anyway so they will give the most unlikely of miracles a crack
 
Was an awkward number of overs till the 2nd new ball when the day started

We didn't want Cummins & Starc to spend energy with an old ball then have to go again shortly after

But while we were waiting have gifted Jacks and Smith a gentle opening. Surprised we didn't go with Boland and Green instead.

Lyon will obviously do some bowling today but the hour post-roller is when the pitch break up settles a fraction. Less turn, less variable bounce, fewer puffs of dust. Was going to be his least effective period

The last paragraph is right. The rain delay would therefore help Lyon. They can't score whilst off the field but the heavy roller effects can wear off.
