In a lean season up forward for the Bears where the pockets were busy trying to get donuts and the full forward was trying to kick behinds (and not in the atomically correct sense), it came to one player to tidy up the mess. Enter Matele.

Up on the half forward flank, pushing up when needed for 35 marks or pushing forward to provide pressure as the only forward player to have double digit tackles. Not afraid to attack the goals either, Matele finished with the best accuracy of our forwards as well with 15 goals for only 5 behinds.

A worthy back to back winner of our best forward. Congratulations, Matele!

So once again I find myself congratulating Millky95 on winning the Mateflon Medal. I think people are going to start thinking Millky95 is actually my brother and I am rigging all these wins for him.

But the numbers don't lie. Winning once is impressive. Winning twice is remarkable. But winning Five times in Seven Seasons? That is generational dominance. Millky95 has once again proven why he's one of the greatest to ever wear the Bears jersey.

This season, Millky recorded the 3rd highest Qooty votes and led the club in Posting votes, a combination that perfectly captures what makes him so valuable to this club. He's not just excellent on the field, he's the heartbeat of our club in match threads.

While he didn't lead any single statistical category, that actually tells a better story than dominating just one stat could. Top 5 in kicks, handballs, tackles, free kicks for, free kicks against, and dream team points. Millky was everywhere, doing everything, at an elite level. He's the ultimate complete player and with his spamming power in match threads his a lethal combination.

With 5 Mateflon Medals, the Bears Hall of Fame might just be waiting for Millky in the future.

A hearty congratulations are in order for Bear Number 65 and Hall of Famer Art Vandelay_ for his 47 goals effort this season. The impressive haul makes him the leading goalkicker for the team this year and thus most deserving of his 4th Leading Goal Kicker trophy (including the 3rd season in a row).

Somewhere along the way this season he kicked his 400th goal as well (tallying 407 for his illustrious career so far) but his teammates were probably already at the post-match function at Sizzler to take notice sozza.

Like Tom Hanks trying to drag an (unbeknownst to him) dismembered corpse across the beach of Normandy in his favourite 90's film Saving Private Ryan, our full forward tried his best to put Las Vegas in the winners column despite a limited supply and was unsuccessful in saving aforementioned corpse.

Art is known for his take-no-prisoners banter towards our inferior opposition in Sweet, many (alleged) contributions to the field of architecture, passionate devotion to all things Geelong, ahem, Las Vegas and... I'm sure there's something else but I just can't put my finger on it.

I invite everyone to raise a glass for the literal Bear in the Square and toast a marvelous season.

Let's have a look at the final leaderboard for Season 40.

Millky95 won with 46 votes, 12 votes clear of Cap who finished runner-up for the 2nd season in a row on 34 votes. Rounding out the top 5, RonnieRaven earned his first podium finish with 29 votes, SSSSSS on 25, and Electronic_Renaissance on 21.

For Qooty votes, Cap and RonnieRaven tied on top with 29 votes each, with Millky95 just one back on 28.

For Posting votes, Millky95 led the way with 18, followed by MWPP on 15 and Ocha905 with 10.

Ladies, gentlemen and Bears, it's time to announce our Best Club Player, as voted by you, the team.

I'm pleased to report that this year's voting was completely above board. No suspicious IP addresses from the Atlantic Ocean, no VPN shenanigans, just good old fashioned democratic process. Revolutionary stuff, really.

And the winner is... Ocha905!

Now, Ocha had an interesting season. On one hand, he made the All-SFA team, which is genuinely impressive and something to be proud of. On the other hand, he also won a Golden Donut for posting a perfect zero stat line across the board. Most players peak at one end or the other. Ocha somehow managed both in the same season. That's range.

But here's the thing, this award isn't about your best game or your worst game. It's about what you bring to the club week in, week out. And Ocha brings plenty.

As part of the Leadership Group, he's been writing up match reviews all season. He kept engagement up in match threads with his "Drafts" topic of the week, giving people something to talk about beyond just the game. He shows up, contributes to the team vibe, and makes this club better just by being involved.

Awww shucks peeps. Whilst I am honoured I feel this is undeserved. Good news is there’s always next season and I hope to step it up for you all then (maybe only 1 golden donut hehe). Thank you all for welcoming me into Vegas and making me feel at home from day 1.

Right, that's a wrap on another season of awards, speeches, and pretending we all deserved better than we got.

Congratulations again to all our winners tonight - Art Vandelay_, Matele, MWPP, Ocha905, RonnieRaven, SSSSSS, and of course, our five time Mateflon Medal winner, Millky95. You've all earned your spray painted medals and the eternal glory that comes with them.

A special congratulations to our Hall of Fame inductees, Test Tickle and MWPP. Your contributions to this club have earned you a permanent place in Bears history.

Thanks to everyone who joined us this evening and stuck around for the whole show. I know some of you were only here for the free drinks, but the fact that you pretended to care about the awards means everything to me, plus if you were watching closely you may have seen me spoil a thing or two throughout the night by accident.

More importantly, thank you all for Season 40. Another year of questionable team selections, match threads that somehow stayed bearly legal, performances that well, we finished second last, and enough drama to keep a soap opera running for months. You've made this season memorable, even if some of those memories are things we'd rather forget.

A special thanks to the rest of the Leadership Group, who somehow managed to keep this circus running despite our best efforts to burn it all down. Your dedication to this club goes way beyond just voting each week. You keep the Bears running, deal with all the chaos, and somehow make it look easy. Season 41 kicks off in the new year, so we've got some time off. Enjoy Christmas, have a great New Year's, and make the most of the holiday break. Rest up, spend time with family, and pretend you're going to train harder this time. Spoiler alert: we won't. But maybe, just maybe, we'll make finals next season, who am I kidding we won't.

I always hate this part cause words constantly feel inadequate to the burden of my heart. Firstly a big congratulations to every award winner tonight and especially to MWPP and Test Tickle for making it into the Las Vegas Hall of Fame. You're our role models and idols.

I love this club. I love lining up with every Bear each week and getting to post insane non-sense with you all. Whilst we didn't get the on-field success we wanted, our off-field ability is second to none. I honestly wouldn't want to be anywhere else in sweet.

I'm so excited for next season. Playing with eth-dog for the first time and welcome to the Bears, mate. Getting to see the way our leaders perform and our youth grow. Hopefully this time we can kick the sim into gear and win that elusive second flag.

A big thank you to tony for being the best captain in the league. The work he does behind the scenes is incredible. He is probably the most humble person on this board. Though I suspect next season he will force me out of the midfield so I don't win this thing again.

We have another inductee into the Hall of Fame! So joining the likes of Dingster , hilly , Matera92 , kane249 , pantskyle , Art Vandelay_ , JoshWoodenSpoon , Broken and most recently Test Tickle , we are delighted to honour MWPP for the award.

MWPP is a stalwart of the Bears, ever since she joined in Season 27 from the Royals. She impressed from the start with her witty banter, her love of the Eagles and Harry Potter, and it was a win-win with the Bears reaching the Grand Final in her first season. Her leadership skills we evident from the start, and she won the Captain's Award in her very first season. MWPP continued to impress and after winning the Captain's Award again in Season 29, she became Captain for three seasons from Seasons 30-32. In later seasons she has been successful as a redeployed forward including at the Season 36 Grand Final. She never shirks from a challenge and numerous teammates and others around the league have given thanks for her support in times when it has been needed.

MWPP has been recognised more widely in the league as well, with multiple all-SFA awards (and Vice Captain in Season 30) and multiple top 10 and top 20 Beez finishes. It would not be an understatement to say the league would be much poorer without her. Her Q scores have been an invaluable resource in deciphering the sim, and she has also been involved in the match posting and simming group, and volunteering in other roles around the league.

And now, we formally induct MWPP into the Bears Hall of Fame. It is a very popular addition and she is irreplaceable in the club and popular outside it. The Butterbeers are free tonight, so raise your glasses!
