Yeah that’s a good batting line up, they’re one of the few teams who don’t seem to be either relying on a couple of guys or banking on a young player making a big leap.

Although even they have nothing on the bench if Inglis doesn’t get released.
Finn Allen being able to keep is a bonus, lengthens our batting, but we have a specialist keeper in Joel Curtis who could come in. He's been ripping up Premier Cricket though hasn't had quite the same impact at State level yet. And Sam Fanning is the other back-up batter. Played some last year, is pretty good, but certainly not a big name. Quietly confident someone will be able to stand up each game.

Hobart have a good five in Owen, Wade, McDermott, David & Chaudhary. Then it gets dicey without Weatherald and Webster.

Owen, Wade, McDermott, David, Chaudhary, Ahmed, Jordan, Ellis, Hossain, Meredith, Stanlake

That would be the best XI on paper but dicey batting order and don't need 6 bowlers and 3 all rounders.

I guess they will play Mac Wright ahead of Ahmed or Stanlake.

They seem to be talking up Tim Ward a bit so I suspect he plays. Bowling was an issue leading up to last season but Meredith seems to be more economical these days and Stanlake has been bowling quite well recently.

Renegades having signed Will Elliott as a replacement player for Will Salzmann who's out for the tournament

He's straight into the squad for tomorrow night along with Zampa, replacing Harry Dixon & Caleb Jewell

The player managers definitely see the Stars and Renegades coming

Is Doggett going to play for the Gades at all??

There was zero talk of him possibly being cleared from the Ashes squad to play a game at any point, and last night on the coverage they had a big graphic of all the 'potential Ashes stars returning to BBL' and he was the only one not there.

Obviously not considered an Ashes 'star'. In all honesty, they probably forgot about him.

No Boland as he bowled the most overs.

Green, well he didnt do much but he needs the break because mentally he's all over the place

Sixers should be the favourites, though i dont know how long the t20 WC squad will hang around if their team makes finals

Is this one of the worst calls ever made?

I think I could name close to 20 better players who have played BBL

Tim was fantastic when writing local sport many years ago. I dont know if something happened to him but he completely lost the plot focusing on Super Coach and is now hard to follow

Mental they are allowing Starc to play IMO off a huge test workload.

PLAYERS RETURNING FROM JAN 10 ONWARDS
Alex Carey (Adelaide Strikers), Brendan Doggett (Melbourne Renegades), Josh Inglis (Perth Scorchers), Usman Khawaja (Brisbane Heat), Marnus Labuschagne (Brisbane Heat), Todd Murphy (Sydney Sixers), Steve Smith (Sydney Sixers), Jake Weatherald (Hobart Hurricanes) and Beau Webster (Hobart Hurricanes)

PLAYERS RETURNING BETWEEN JAN 14 TO 16 ONWARDS
Michael Neser (Brisbane Heat) and Mitch Starc (Sydney Sixers)

PLAYERS NOT RETURNING
Scott Boland (Melbourne Stars), Travis Head (Adelaide Strikers) and Cameron Green (uncontracted)

No Green for the Scorchers for the sounds of it

Damn can you imagine the batting lineup if Green did choose to play. Could probably go with 3 bowlers and then have Hardie / Connoly / Green make up the remaining 8 overs between them. Then Laurie Evans would be batting at 8 lol.
