How is it that in 2026 the movie studios are again churning out sequels, yet the small screen continues to throw up originality. We know the answer but something is crook.

Killer episode, Manousos ended up a lot calmer than I was expecting, one very focused dude. Zosia must have really spilled the beans to him, how else did he know that yelling at them causes issues. Lots to speculate on.

The translate app lady was my favourite character this week. "Shut your trap"

It seems they need Carol's consent to extract stem cells from her body but not to infect her now they can get the stem cells by other means. It's not like the rest of humanity had a choice.

Zosia said "Please understand, we have to do this because we love you. Because I love you." They have both been playing a game that Zosia is an individual but that's when the bubble burst for Carol. It's another example of the great writing in this show.

I don’t think she had left the plan completely but she had effectively turned into Casanova Boner and was enjoying the fruits of the situation and pushing reality back in her mind.

The revelation that they were going to force her and that she only had maybe a month or so, saw reality crashing down hard on her.

Yeah was great. Rhea is an amazing actress. Really sold that realisation in real time without saying a word. Couldn't really see anyone else playing Carol.

I would have slightly shuffled the story of the season around and maybe had Carol's jaunt with Zosia and first meeting Manusos spread over 8&9 rather than just the final episode. Would have made Carol's decision hit a bit harder. Nothing major, just a minor nitpick what is a pretty close to perfect show.

Good to have some high level original content back on TV.

Surely Carol could just ask for her eggs back. Or just ask them to stop the process.

I wondered the same thing. She does have some leverage knowing (a) they would have to tell her truthfully where her eggs were being stored and (b) how destructive she can be if she goes scorched Earth on the hive.

Probably the same thing her parents said when she was sent to conversion therapy camp as a teenager.

Anyway, excellent show. I can see where the $15 million per episode was spent. I just wish Apple TV had given Vince Gilligan the green light to film the whole series without extended breaks between seasons.

Yep. HBO's The Last of Us has a similar budget but that had plenty of special effects and CGI. Anyway, with his track record Gilligan could have pitched any half-baked idea and every studio would have given him a blank cheque.

I think their primary hive mission is to spread the “virus” and that overrides everything else.

They will continue to tell the truth and be nice to her but nothing will stop their imperative of spreading this thing to encompass everything in the universe.

Btw, how good are the little things in this show? The planes banked up in the air to land as people are moving back into the city, the line up of cars leaving the city in the background when they are all leaving again. The cars stopping in the street when Carol left the diner last episode. There’s tons of this carefully planned brilliance.

Btw, I think the hive is genuinely happy about Carol’s new book. They already know every book and every creative thing ever produced so this is the only thing actually new. It may also be the last thing.

Zosia also said though that she/they love Manousos (and the other unjoined) just as much as Carol. So that would have also made Carol realise that she's not special, and that Zosia doesn't have feelings towards her that are stronger than towards the others. It demonstrated again how manipulative the hive had been.
