I came here to post this.

What a f____g pleasure it is to listen to a coach with a brain. Someone that can make English sentences. Someone that shows they are considering things in some depth, and who actually has a philosophy rather than "Hardery, longery. what time are the dogs running?"
KEN: Boys weren't tough and harder enough for longer. We didn't handle the pressure in the tight moments. We'll take those learnings into next week. Footy is a hard game and someone has to lose.

JOURNALIST: [some random question that's only slightly harder than a marshmallow on the team's embarrassing finals exit]

HINKLEY: "Now's not the time to be answering those kinds of questions. Ask me in a few months."

IN A FEW MONTHS: [crickets]

I want to be wrong but yet to see it in any volume

Josh Lai tho'? a smokey from left field or a... ummm maybe

or maybe he can really play.

We've got talent in the wings on every line

Maybe i'm on my Pat Malone but we're gunna bee a not bad side with a soft draw

Didn't mind Josh's interview on Ch9 last night.

Measured response, which to me sounds like he's not just tweaking a few things in a minor way, but going to make a lot of radical re-strategising to the old game plan, and doesn't want the list to get information overload!

Progressively adjusting it bit by bit until it becomes ingrained.

Correct , I get the feeling from what he’s saying that he doesn’t expect things to change as quick as people on this forum think.
All the talk about the new game plan sounds much like i said months ago.
It’s going to take time to get everyone onboard.
He’s not raving on about expectations for next year but more of a long term thing.
His goals are realistic not some fairy tale dreams.

It's a big job to turn around the loser mindset Kenny instilled.

Rosie's "mission accomplished" speech after we scraped by hawthorn in the semi was sickening

Josh is a footy nerd, smart and measured in his thinking. He's talked a bit about the defensive game plan he wants to instil and getting the players to learn it. He has real depth in the coaching box and he's been supported by the footy department. And he's not afraid to learn, not just talk about it.

I thought we just have to be tougher and harder for longer.:smirk:

".... assistant coaches making my ideas a lot better and bringing their own ideas ....."

What a refreshing attitude.
After 13 years of the rubbish we were forced to endure from the tea chucker and his illiterate drivel it's absolutely refreshing to now have a coach who can not only speak coherently and give intelligent responses to the interviewer, but also appreciate what his assistant coaches can bring to the table to help improve the team.

Carr could say anything in the media right now, and compared to Hinkley all Port fans are gonna be positive about it.

The best thing about Carr is - that like Hardwick and Leigh Matthews - you know there is some tough guy mongrel in them from their footy days. You don’t lose this being a head coach.

When any Port supporter imagines Carr as a player you see 1. him fighting Jonathon Brown in the Gf. 2. kicking the first goal of the 2004 GF. 3. Premiership medallion around his neck.

That is some good association right there.

Does anybody actually remember any other Josh Carr moments… ?

10-0 record in Showdowns, and this:

And of course the Ramsgate but Duck Farmer beat me to that.
