I’m just bloody excited about David Boon’s birthday


Hi Mooch

Remember the Boonie and Beefy talking figures from way back? You would have had them in cartons of VB here but I was still living in the UK at the time so I collected mine via Guinness. Same things but different. I remember a few of us went out in York for the FA Cup Final and I made sure we drunk enough Guinness to collect a couple of sets.



Anyway, when I left the UK If gave mine to one of my mates so he had a bit of a collection going. A while later I was talking to him and he said "I'm absolutely knackered. I got no sleep last night". I thought maybe he had got lucky or something so I was curious. No he says, I was up all night because I thought my house was haunted? "Haunted???", I say

Turns out that something - and he still has no idea what - kept triggering Beefy and Boonie in the middle of the night and their arguing kept waking him up

That's what I say every morning when I speak to my American colleagues who are still living at some point yesterday.

Dougie always seemed to look about mid 50's in his playing years.

Talked with Dougie at the Aussie Hotel bar in Miles Qld, in 2005. Dougie was there for a paid performance. The paid performance continued to be a chat at the bar from 6.00 to 12.30. it seemed a needless waste to shift from there.

Yeah, I had a similar experience years ago at the Joiners Arms. Him, Thommo and Pascoe all on a junket and all quite happy to piss on with those in awe of them and their achievements.
