I guess it doesn't help when your two openers are batting at a snail's pace to begin with.....and one, more often than not, gets out early...

The murmurs have come that this might be Mitch Marsh last Sheffield Shield match in his career. Like I said he probably unwinds his career as a white ball player a bit similar to a Glenn Maxwell. It would probably be the wise thing if he wants to play until 40 in the national setup. His schedule means he would be unable to play Shield cricket for the rest of this season:

Yeah its time just concentrate on the white ball mitch heaps of years left in that

with the loss on the weekend shield season is effectively over if not already ....voges leaving end of the year its time to renew and rebuild the side

He is a father and I do know the Marsh family are a fairly close knit family. With him being a dad , even with the heavy scheduling of the white ball stuff , I think it works out to be a reasonable outcome for him. His white ball cricket for Australia and the recent IPL has been pretty top notch. It wouldn’t surprise me if he came out in this seasons BBL and have a really strong season. Feel like for a lot of the guys that have reached the top of the IPL or The Ashes from playing in front of full houses to playing Shield cricket it would feel a step down. And he came out and said something along the lines he’d be happy to be in the crowd cheering on the national team for the 1st test In the ashes this summer, was a bit of a giveaway that maybe the fire maybe wasn’t quite there.

He will always have franchise opportunities even at a level below IPL/ BBL should he chase more cricketing time/money.

To play 46 Test matches just 4 short of his dad ( Geoff) should be pretty proud the Marsh family.

Green went to Kolkata for 25.2 crore, 252 million rupees or 4.1 million AUD, an IPL auction record for an overseas player.

Connolly went to Ricky Ponting's Punjab Kings XI for 3 crore, or $500k AUD. Not a bad payday for your first IPL gig

Inglis and Richardson go unsold

Inglis going for surgery apparently so only available for like 3 games, otherwise probably would have sold based on LY efforts

Coops looks a bargain based on some of the sold players so far

So after all that the half available Inglis goes for 8.6 crore to Lucknow in the second "accelerated round". Tom Moody doing his fellow sandgroper a favour with the gross over bid

Surprised Inglis went if the surgery news is true (has Reddit lied to me)

Stoked for him though
Believe it has lied to you. I read he was going to be unavailable for a number of games due to his upcoming wedding.

Did Richardson end up going? He's a T20 gun when fit. When fit being the biggest issue.

Lolwut, Voges getting extended for the Scorchers until next year while still stepping down from the state side.

Just have a clean break and get one coach in next season. This John Stephenson fella at CEO doesn't seem to be up to it.

Why make a tough decision if you dont have to?

I can see how they see how it makes sense. He’s stepping down as WA coach to focus on franchise T20 cricket and the Scorchers are a T20 franchise. But it does mess with a winning formula that kept the Scorchers and WA closely linked and isn’t exactly a show of confidence in the next WA coach.

Think it almost reflects the shifting nature of the responsibilities are going to be over the next few seasons.

The mainline coach will be having to manage the transition - developing the shield side as guys like Connolly, Goodwin, Wyllie, Beardman, Jackson et al nail down permanent spots and develop their red ball cricket. (Love the idea of Katich taking over FYI - but imagine it'll go to Casson to maintain continuity within the setup.)

Whereas the Scorchers coach will be taking the cream of that crop (+imports) with a view to getting results year-on-year.

Yeah thats the plan ....we need to start transitioning in the shield ..Whyllie Fanning need to be given games ...Goodwin told to me more proactive and start to play the younger bowlers regularly.

I want to see Beardman and Jhye opening the bowling come Feb when the shield restarts...and both to play all the remaining shield games

In all honesty there is no point player good honest triers in Gannon and Kelly maybe Kelly but they both should not be given priority over the younger players.

Games need to be pumped into Haskett Beardman Esterhuysen and we need to look at Quiggani the left armer ...we have Couch who I like and Morris coming from an injury combined that with the allrounders in Hardie and Critchell

Rocco will continue on and IMO he is the best spinner in the country

Batting front we need to look at Budge and I would look at moving Hilton Cartwright on and I would consider looking at the other states for a shield batter

Short term we might experience some pain but we need to transition

We pumped games into Fanning, Wylie and Goodwin when we were still winning and last season too. Fanning is the one who showed the most, the others struggled.

Kinda crazy Coops has the same amount of 3 wicket halls in BBL as Agar. Quite Frankly I can see Connolly getting 4 wickets in a game before Agar does. Agar got pumped yesterday and picked up a couple cheapies and had one good hit last season. Bar that his last 4 years have been terrible and yet he was one of the old school lads to be offered a contract. Really hope we can trade him out and get some cap space for a decent bowler

Agar was pretty good last year I thought.

Not a lot of wickets but went at under 6 an over which is excellent.

We're doing alright given we've won only 1 toss out of 5 and the chasing team seems to be getting a huge advantage this year. 3 comfortable wins and 2 narrow defeats. By far the highest run rate of any team incl the Stars who've won every toss, it's just the bowling that will probably be the downfall
