Um no. He's the current President. It's perfectly fine to focus on him. His predecessors also being shit doesn't relieve him of accountability for what happens on his watch.

Interesting article. It will be interesting to see what happens when this gets to court. I expect the evidence to be very flimsy at best and probably even virtually even non existent. As he isnt a citizen its likely there will be no immediate court case or they will have the plea and any actual case will not be heard for months. The most likely scenario is once the regime changes in Venezuala, they will be extradited back to Venezuela where they will have a full public kangaroo court trial and make the song and dance for the world. The USA wont look bad and can claim truth if the they end up in jail for a very long time or they can claim corruption if they dont. Its the perfect win win.

No, Im not interested in that. If you're right about his motivation on the timing,then it's not unprecedented. History repeating.

Trump filled every position around him with loyalists and tells everyone what he wants and to make it happen. This was an ego strike for distraction and oil so he can claim he stopped drugs and oh look oil prices have gone down at the pump. But over the duration there has been zero evidence provided by Trump (like usual) that any of his claims are true.

When you make this a Trump issue you, you lose track that this is just the next in a long line of overseas interventions.

I'm taking a more cynical view, I don't care it's Trump. It's the US doing as they please.

Fair point. And in a way you are correct. Probably we are both correct. It probably falls in the middle.

We're talking about a small group of people in the government dictating events without congressional approval. This is Trump and his inner circle doing as they please. You can throw them all under the bus if you want but it's not like the voters or their reps in congress had any agency here.

The problem he has is it doesn’t solve people’s day to day issues.

At the end of the day, people having to buy groceries etc are only concerned with that, this is just a short term distraction.

Unless things improve significantly economically in people’s day to day lives, Republicans will get absolutely monstered in the midterms.

And he better hope that they don’t have any US servicemen lives lost in Venezuela over the coming months.

US does what they want with Venezuela (Panama? Greenland?)
Russia gets Ukraine
China gets Taiwan

They all agree to stay out of each other’s backyards. Very little the rest of the world can do about it.

What he's doing is no different to what dems/republicans have been doing since WW2. US hegemony based on controlling resources and governments.
