Current head to head record is 33-28 in favour of West Coast but with Fremantle set to enter a premiership window while West Coast struggle at the bottom of the ladder, it's possible and quite likely that Fremantle overtake West Coast head to head before the end of the 2020s. Fremantle have never lead the head to head ledger in their entire history so if/when they overtake West Coast on the ledger it'll be interesting to see if we begin to see a power shift in WA.

It's a golden opportunity for Fremantle to change things in WA as they've been a joke and laughing stock for decades they've built a quality list with no concessions from the AFL it's just hard to win a flag if you're based in WA.

We were about to overtake West Coast in 2015 and then went on to lose 11 derbies in a row. No more 2024 style upsets and we will be leading the ledger before 2030.
Agree with the above comment that it won’t mean much as long as West Coast has 4 flags and we have zilch, they’ll continue to be perceived as the big fish.

I am still bitter that Freo lost 11 derbies in a row in that 2015 to 2021 period. Should of won at least 1 or 2 in that period

2016 didn't help as on paper that Fremantle squad should have been nowhere near the bottom 4.

We'll let then get to 1 win behind like in 2015 and whilst their supporters are busy stroking each other up so hard they will be literally bursting, hubris will smack them like donkey in a horse race.
P.S. Eagles supporters have now been experiencing hubris so we know what we are talking about, but hey, its hard to be humble in a 2 team town, when only one has been successful.

That was around when all the issues within the coaching ranks started to begin from memory. I think it was Marc Webb who got hammered by Ross Lyon after that Bulldogs smashing in Round 1. You then have the infamous Sumich bust up, and the rumoured dislike David Hale had for Ross as well. Ross really never recovered from that year.

A couple of players like Paul Duffield and Luke McPharlin retired. But was only 2 players.
We got crippled with injuries and the ageing players were in decline.
I am still bitter about that season going 0-10 after 10 games and 4-18 after 22 games and 16th spot.
2016 was a fluke season as everything fell apart.
2017 and 2018, both years we got 14th with 8 wins and 14 defeats. Yeah it was a rebuild and a long way back.

Melbourne were once seen as a power club of the competition but their terminal decline over decades saw a power shift as they became one of the smaller clubs so it's possible we could witness the beginning of a power shift in WA if Fremantle overtake West Coast head to head and go on to maintain a positive win ratio against them.

Since Freo started playing finals in 03 West Coast has won 14 finals with 2 premierships in contrast to Freo who have won 7 finals.
If your old enough to remember the Dockers beginning, you've already been around long enough to know the most enjoyable times of footy have probably come & gone.Now all we got is them playing that schoolyard Richmond style, playing for free kicks & turdish celebrations. So come on Freo hurry up & win it before your whole mob finally realise that theres no point in wearing purple unless you were the artist formally known as Prince.

Yes, the Eagles aren't afraid to bottom out and hit the draft for several years.
They have banked some nice kids now just need to develop them and land a couple more trades to plug holes.
