They're just biding their time waiting for a good chance to say "I told you so"
Unless Josh Carr somehow coaches us so badly that the 2004 premiership is retrospectively stripped, there's no I told you so moment possible for the Hinkleyites.

Yeah I think he'd need to coach about 23 years of failure to be on par with Hinkley.

13 to match him in terms of on-field failure, then another 10 years of drought would be about equal to the co-captains stain that Hinkley gave us.

That's the one.
Just remembered they did stuff with barbed wire as well. Crazy.
Don't forget Jeff Hardy's 10m Swan song off the stage, crazy cat that guy, no wonder he ended up an addict

I don’t reckon you can separate Ken from Davies and Koch. As a unit, they went through multiple mini rebuilds, which got us to finals, but ultimately they weren’t creating a list and game plan to win flags.

Carr actually has a reasonable list, if he can hold the current players and recruit/draft a few more. But we have to be realistic that there is so much Vic advantage in the competition, and the 4 northern clubs lists are so fat with their academy/discounts.

When asked about how the game style will change from Ken Hinkley’s, the key-forward admitted that it will only marginally change.

“I think (it will change) probably marginally,” Georgiades said
.

“There's obviously been some slight changes within the game plan and the way we want to play, but I think predominantly it'll look pretty similar.”

This seems to go against what we've heard in other interviews. I'm hoping for a bit more than marginal changes.

As a forward theres probably only slight changes.

Ideally everywhere else on the ground is completely different.

And with the comments about essentially having a completely different defensive game plan more akin to the one at freo.

Forward line wasn't too bad overall. The downside 2025 was lack of key forwards to help Georgiades due to injuries, etc. But the leading and pressure forward roles, as in, keeping it in the forward half was already good overall. Except the kicking accuracy...

It's always been more about the midfield running both ways so being offensive yet also defensive and more specifically the backline and defensive structure.

Fix the backline and defense plus get the midfield operational and bobs your uncle. That's always been Ports biggest issues. Not so much forward line (apart from as I said, goal kicking accuracy)

Sinn talked about the change in transition play and connection between defence and midfield. So there will be changes.

As Georgie also said, most teams play the same way so change won't be massive.

They've shown they can win regularly during home and away season. What I want to see is a change in the near enough is good enough mindset, that winning is not an option, it's the only option.

All the people they have brought in have experienced ultimate success so I expect they will be pushing hard in that direction.

That would make more sense if he was speaking specifically about how the game plan has changed for him or the foward line in general. The defensive structure is what I'm more worried about in general, and it looks like that is changing 🤞

No more games where we put on 5goals - 2 against an opposition in a quarter and then stop trying and let them crawl back. Just put the foot to the throat and win empathetically.
That’s all very well if you have the players capable of doing that.
We are not the only team that lets big leads skip, in fact there’s not many teams capable of doing what you want.
Geelong are one side that’s pretty good at destroying teams once on top.

If there's 1 thing I wish to see Carr bring to our club is when we are up by 6 to 8 goals .
Drive the steak through the heart of the team we are pla8and win by 12 to 16 goals.
I want us to destroy team again

Yeah it’s about the mids running both ways, but also where they setup.

Hinkles loved the forward press, which meant everyone is pushed hard up the ground. Great for repeat entries into a crowded forwardline. Not that great for scoring. But teams were getting us on transition and out the back.

Other teams, aren’t so aggressive, and setup defensively much deeper (sometimes with an extra player - Geelong do this all the time). When you have decent kicks in your side and good running patterns (wingers/half forwards/half backs) you can play this game.

We probably struggle in this area. We didn’t fix it either over the trade period. But maybe some of 50+ game players can go the next level. And players like Berry can step it up.

Agreed, but as much as it pains me to say this it wasn't just kern whose cue in the rack stuff burnt valuable percentage.

Choco did it as well, as soon as you saw him send the runner out for that waving the ball above the head BS the players would stop playing the footy that had given the team a comfortable margin, and instead of building on it the end result was often multiple oppo goals and potential 40 plus point wins becoming less than half that.
