Yeah not so sure the US has pretended to be neutral at any stage though.

It might be more blatant under Trump, but as far as the last two years goes, Biden was only marginally less subservient to Israel’s whims.

Kinda, they want all the land but not the people. If they assimilated all the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza into Israel and made them citizens they'd be a very significant voting bloc which would have a huge impact on Israeli politics.

Which is why what they really want is to send them all to Egypt/Jordan/wherever else.

Which is, checks notes, ethnic cleansing.
 
It seems the Coalition just doesn't really want to be elected. Another week of fighting themselves.
It annoys me not because I am a rusted on voter of either side but mainly because I think you need a decent opposition to have a strong government.

Just on this by the way, let’s not kid ourselves that we’re immune to this either.

If Gillian Segal’s antisemitism definition/plan gets instituted in any way even slightly we are on a very, very slippery slope towards very similar territory.

The Libs would 100% go all-in on adopting it in full if given the chance, Labor probably won’t but they’ve been scarcely any less feckless on the whole issue so I have no faith in them in this regard.

Both major parties seem pretty ok with pushing ID requirements for social media access. They’re hiding it cleverly by saying ‘kids under x age won’t be able to access things’ but the end result is that everyone has to provide ID.

We also recently saw a report commissioned “ to address the pervasive issue of islamophobia” in Australia and offering 54 recommendations.

I don’t understand any of this. Is this not all covered by the racial discrimination Act and hate speech laws? Why does any one ethnic/religious group require special consideration?

One group wants special treatment to cover for a country they're also loyal to, to provide political cover.

The other is the group which gets the most actual discrimination and violence.

I agree that it should all be covered under the racial discrimination act, and polarisation and social media is bringing racism back in a big way.

I love that Australians ignore that Brenton Tarrant is Australia's worst terrorist because he committed his crime in New Zealand. But he learned his Islamophobia in Australia and we're never far away from another similar attack. Very different to the Iranian/Mossad attacks which were all performative.

No issue with doing reports / investigations to the specific areas of interest or concern, but yes it should all fall within the existing discrimination laws.
 
Let’s face it, the goal of the Zionist institutions and lobby groups (of which the antisemitism envoy is very much one) is to completely conflate criticism of the state of Israel or taking action against them for their murderous behaviour in Gaza with being antisemitic, with the goal of completely silencing the former.

And I’d say they have a body politic in Australia all too willing to go along with it.
