I think you're just reading the front page of News Corp papers. As I said, there's no discussion among my social or professional circles about the need for an RC. I'd be surprised if anyone said it was the topic of choice at their last social catch-up. It might seem harsh to say, but people have moved on (cost of living, Venezuela etc) and will just accept whatever review comes in down the line.
Maybe, I dont think so, we'll see

If he was gonna call for a RC he should have just done it straight away ….. saying no and then folding a couple of weeks later is his worst scenario, just looks really week

The average Australian wouldn't even know what a Royal Commission is. I honestly don't know much. I don't have a personal opinion either way on whether one should happen for this. I do know that they take a long time, cost a lot of money, and have been both used and not used for different events past.
What I do know is, if the day after the attack Albanese called a Royal Commission, the Opposition and their cronies would still be rabbiting on about how Albanese is personally to blame and hold up something else as his fault. The DEMAND FOR A ROYAL COMMISSION is a political wedge, which they've looked for since 5 minutes after the attack. To be honest they've looked for it since the Liberal Party was decimated at the election.
The sheer volume of the outcry from Murdoch and co. makes this obvious.

I'm not a huge fan of Albanese really, but he's clearly more than "a fixer and a numbers man". He's won two federal elections, the second one resulting in a massively increased majority and the decimation of his opposing party.

Yeah, have the RC. It will identify many reasons for the rise in antisemitism. Netanyahu will be one of them.

I'd be very disappointed if he caved on this. It would be weakness due to pressure from right-winged media outlets.
As others have said, anyone with half a brain could write a report in a few hours detailing the major issues causing the Bondi shooting. Just get on with fixing the issues instead of wasting months (or years) telling us what we already know.
