Rubbish. cumming and Grlj are not hindered by injury so why would you give up either, picks 7 & 8. So if we had the choice of Smillie with a pick 7 again would we give it for Smillie knowing his injury history? F no.

Anyway this is a useless conversation as we do not have that choice.
Don’t agree, that’s an extreme recency opinion. We selected him as he was a dominant mid his whole junior career.
So what, he’s had injuries the past 12 months, he may never have another injury of its type again and turn out to be the best player from that draft. Still growing from all accounts too😮
Personally, I think he’s every chance to be the player we envisioned him to become, as he was touted as the number one pick for a long period of time leading up to his draft. I was so happy he was still available at our selection and I still feel that way, far too early to reduce expectations imo.
As you said though, pointless discussion as he was drafted at 7, and we cannot change that. To say he’s not worth that pick is shortsighted imo as he really could still be anything.

Following on from the Smillie observations of a few here, I think we might've made an big error taking Cumming at #7 and Grjl at #8.

Instead we should've taken Grjl at #7 and then Cumming at #8, and I will watch their careers with great trepidation that Grjl might turn out to be a bit better than Cumming and make us all look the fools.

Possibly not, but a heads up that people loose their minds for asking questions related to his injuries.
Season 2 Shut Up GIF by The Lonely Island

Im not expecting him back to full training and i mean full training in game simulation and full on sprints kicking agility stuff for another month and middle of feb will be about the time. They will most likely give him another 2-3 games at VFL level to get his game conditioning and touch.

But whats the rush just get the kid 100% right as we have enough toys to play with for the 1st half of the season

nah, things happen quicker when the playing list profile is younger and the player is younger, we do not want to miss any organic upside and growth

Yep. What a ridiculous suggestion 😉

when Lids was younger developing, you would not trade him out to get him back in.

ideally all our youngsters are playing and developing until we start winning premierships

the other thing is because they are starting you can be exploited and lowballed in a trade, look at Gunston to Hawks from Adelaide etc...

Speaking of Gunston, when older he went to Brisbane and then back to Hawks

If he's 197cm, and Nank is 199cms

Im certain he has a better leap than Nank, start playing him like Luke Jackson lol

Nank's on his way out. See how clubs use new ruck rules. No wrestle for the centre bounce only. Ryan's 204. Balta has always been a brick shithouse, Fawcett 198 & rucking in the VFL.

Cripps rucks, is 195 and a brick shit house.

We have Sims ruck forward already. Too much kid KPF depth.

Smilie played OK in the middle in the VFL. I think they start the kid there.

💯 Was a star mid his whole junior career
