Have said before that I think Reid has got better as he went on.

The first Gibbs effort was a rookie error.
He signed up senior players who spearheaded the 2015-2017 finals years to long contracts which hurt us in hindsight

Since then he's learnt. A couple of high level trade wins, good pick swaps, long term contracts to younger players rather than rewarding veterans for their service

The difficulty he has now is attracting players to a perennial non-finalist. It's a fork in the road trade period for us imho. You feel that a couple of big gains this trade period could catapult us up the ladder, especially if combined with a new senior assistant and a new Rahilly-quality line coach. If we have another Chris Burgess trade period though we'll continue to tread water.

Tread water? I was going to say drop further but I guess there isnt much further to go

Adelaide list manager Justin Reid has left the Crows to join the AFL. After more than a decade as the Crows' list boss, Reid has been poached to be the league's head of football performance and list management, replacing Ned Guy.

I think a change can be good after someone has been in the role for so long, but that's entirely dependent on who we hire and management wise we have a pretty iffy track record there.

Yeah - I was hard on him for a long time and I still have some philosophical differences with LT contracts - but his overall record is in the plus

Good luck to him and lets hope we can find a suitable replacement
