An accident, as I've said from the beginning.
SAPOL took a car and bike, its likely that whichever one their suspect was controlling hit him upon returning to the homestead.
All 3 may be complicit in the subsequent cover up but only 1 is the perpetrator of the crime of causing death.

Id say he was out playing, he heard them coming back, ran out, they didnt see him, he was run over and critically injured and rather than risk losing the younger sibling to the Father who already feared his kids being there, buried him somewhere of significance and made up a story about him wandering off.

He'll be somewhere within 45 minutes of the hs.

You could be right but the other option is the vehicle could also been used to dispose of him.

I'd say most definitely.
None of them would be doing that alone so the only way for 2 or 3 people to take the body to its current resting place would be by vehicle.

If they suspect Josie and she was on the bike, it would explain why both were taken.
The bike to test for the accident, the vehicle for transporting the body.

so weird. thats it? thats the whole statement?

Yep. Police don't have enough to charge whomever it is so they are just doing what they need to do at this stage and that is deny and act dumb.

The thing that annoys me is the wannabe keyboard bashers on social media that are bashing the cops for wasting time with searches and they let Gus down etc.

It will be proven that Gus was killed before the police went to the property.
Totally true, the crap that was meted out to the cops was completely unfair in this thread.

Their comms on the how the case has progressed has been top notch!

With the recent police media release and what was mentioned it all seemed very intentional, I mean given that very little information has been released to the public to date, was there really a need to inform us all of this recent update so to speak?

And in normal circumstances/cases wouldnt they typically wait until they’d officially charged someone etc?

It makes me wonder how much of this was tactical in that they know their person(s) but don’t have enough to get it over the line as yet and perhaps in recent weeks/months they’ve installed listening devices through out various residents and with the recent media release are now hoping to hear some chit chat, not dissimilar to the Greg Lynn - 60 minutes episode example etc.

At least they've identified inconsistencies and been willing to consider everyone as a suspect, rather than slamming the door shut straight up on some possibilities.

Gus is supposed to have disappeared on 27 Sept 2025. Why did it take until 15 Jan 2026 for the police to find inconsistencies in the family members' stories?

You see it often these days when they are close but not enough to get an arrest they will ratchet up the pressure

They've conducted many searches.

Amongst that they've no doubt gone back to family members to cross check details etc.

Slowly but surely the follow up questioning has exposed the inconsistencies.

Yep.

You have to remember, there was no evidence of foul play at all, so they had to do a search in case he did go missing. After the search they realised he didn't walk off, but there was still no proof, so they quietly did what they had to do in the background. Then they started to find inconsistencies and then ramped up the pressure. It was a methodical process.

People who believe he was still alive when the siren was sounded may as well believe in Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy.

The cops kept all options open. I think they knew when there was no trace of him that there was foul play. They don't say that to the media at the time because they still need to investigate, get proof, and still cover all options.

Maybe they changed their story over time.

3 hours before they called the police, plenty of time to dispose of the body
was suspicious from the start, I think the police would have known something was up from the beginning.

They could have gone searching in different directions, none the wise of what each was actually doing.
So one searching and another busy but not searching, in different directions for 3 hours? Someone would have had to stay with the baby. I've also wondered why neighbours were not called to help. Thats what you do in the bush.

so another completely weird case

the cops tickled the wire, and the family came straight back saying 'we are all fully cooperating'?
One member's stopped waltzing with the police, according to the media briefing, and two members seemed sufficiently worried to get themselves expensive lawyers. IMO the wire got an response.
