MCG game 2026

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

The MCG can't compare to the AT&T stadium in Dallas Texas but it will hold more fans and put on a show for the ages. You're missing out by not going and doing yourself a disservice. Any real fan with connection to the great game will be going no matter what.

You're only robbing yourself.
I’m saying the viewing won’t be that bad.

No one ever complains the cricket wicket is too far away

If it's a 10am start I'll also not get a chance to watch it live on tv, busy working like a slave to pay the bills

Bet wherever you guys are sitting, you'll hear some "fan" say out loud, they're pussies, they wear helmets and pads.
I feel like you don't want to be there. Like you don't want it to go ahead. Because you know what you're missing. You're only kidding yourself. Brett farve had thousands of concussions. It's why they wear helmets and padding.

It’s multi year so while the first game might see scalpers charge a fortune they’ll be less contest in subsequent years

So the cheapest tix are A140$ can imagine ours being $250 but over $500 as speculated for the cheapest is alarmist

I’m aware music acts charge much more here than in europe

Using the london ticket price as a guide will be a bit misleading,

Firstly they have had games now in london for what 18 years so demand has decreased as its a regular thing plus multi games a year.
Secondary the prices and demand have gone way done with many other games in Europe so their are way less european fans flying to London to watch a game which when it first launched as they can see it closer to home.
Alot of tickets will be pre sold as packages to companies like onlocation then rams and 49ers will get an allocation then mcg members will get their share, how much will actually be available to the general public ? will it be like the afl grand final ?

I can't imagine us getting tickets like your are taking about to year 4 of them playing in australia.

I can’t see at all why a 10am start would be an issue if I’m honest
Plenty of people will be up for a 10am weekday start tomorrow in pubs and BBQs at home all across Australia.

It's insane to consider btw....a 10am weekday start time for a major international sporting event, for Australia.
Ah cricket test match will sometimes start at 10.30 am. You really are struggling with this. Your negativity has been very disappointing

That's me being optimistic. You wouldn't want to see when I'm negative :(

Cricket starts that early cos it goes all friggin day thou.

I compare nfl more to afl games don’t see them start that early. Even bbl games don’t start that early.

Your whining knows no bounds. What are you on about? The starting time is dictated by US prime time. If this was in Perth or Adelaide it would be even earlier local time.

Geelong or any part of east coast would be same start time as Melbourne. So are you saying we shouldn’t have a NFL game at all?

I’m pretty confused, a lot of people would actually enjoy the early starting time. ‘Make a day’ of it. Just like the superbowl today. And this is without adding the novelty factor that’s its complete new sport to aust shores. It isn’t an afl or nrl game starting at 10am. I get it’s only a regular season game, not the Super Bowl but to have actual teams playing for proper points in our home country makes it a pretty big event that literally hasn’t happened here before. People have plenty of time to work out a day off work, will travel from all over the country to watch it cause 95% of guys wouldn’t get a chance to watch a game live. Yes the stadium might not be the most perfect stadium to watch the actual game but like people have said, we watch cricket on it. We don’t look away when the ball is in the centre square for afl. And the majority of guys will overpay for a ticket more than they thought they would because of the novelty factor, to say they’ve watched it and was there and just for the experience. Regardless if it’s as good a experience to what some of you guys have witnessed in the states

Wonder how keen Stafford will be to make the trip considering he had back issues this year.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Purdy v Jimmy G

You’d think being week 1. Division game, if he doesn’t have a set back in the preseason he’d be fine. You’d like to think the schedule will try mitigate the long flight as best they could. Common sense though 🙄😂

Of course it's dictated by ideal American viewership times. We're just saying it's very uncommon for a football game to start 10am, a showcase, an event of this magnitude (eg, a soccer world cup game). And a fictional Perth game at say 7am shows how ludicrous that would be. There have been world cup games or other football games that start this early, in Australia, and they've been poorly attended. Not saying this game would, because it's the opportunity of a lifetime for Australians. But it is uncommon and there MIGHT be drawbacks that we see on the day, or that people talk about later. Like public transport efficiency, traffic, work, daycare issues etc.

You were whining about Melbourne now it’s the actual game as if it shouldn’t be here in Australia. Strange take mate

You sound like my Dad. He says NFL is to stop start for him. I tell him yeah just like Cricket. His comeback is that is different. I'm yeah it is just like NFL it isn't AFL so stop comparing the two.

I thought exe ex was like Bodhi from Point Break. A guru of the game. One of a kind. But now i think he's just ashamed. His love for the game has waned. Deep down he doesn't want this game to go ahead. Because then he won't have the knowledge he let something so beautiful slip through his grasp. Just like they let Eli free at the end of the superbowl in 2008.

Championship gone begging.

I'm more like William Foster in Falling Down :(
