I guess just the flair & creativity.

Agree completely. His ‘K-Tel voice’ took some getting used to, but when the humour started to shine through he streeted the rest.

RIP Dennis. Being a sporting fan from Western Australia, he's been a big part of my life. Starting out at the ABC doing talkback and calling cricket, through to coaching in the WAFL, then to the VFL/AFL calling footy, the Olympics, reading the Channel 7 sports news in Perth, sometimes seeing him around town or at the airport. Huge loss.

Maybe I'd buried this in my memory somewhere, but I notice that Thorpe exited the pool before the team in the nearest lane has finished their race. Were the rules on this amended after Sydney 2000?
