Dunno about Garcia but as for Hunter, I agree. Despite looking like a slow moving animal attempting to cross a busy street in daylight with cars, trucks and trams about to run him over, he does often enough manage to cross that road somehow, and deliver the goods.
Well at least until David Mackay comes along.

On another thread, there was some stuff about Cotchin in that final, and how only Geary remonstrated with Cotchin.

Next year, we're all over the Crows so MacKay decides to make a physical statement and in doing so, turns Clark's jaw into porridge. No remonstration that time either, Crows go on to win after being five goals down. It was a dog act and we should have reacted accordingly.

I think things are different now.

Destination club.
People have ago at us for offering players big money, what about the dollars Gresh is getting?
Its alot easier to justify 900k for an above average player by saying its only above average money opposed to elite money for potentially elite.

Its also a move with absolutely no ****ing balls because defensible isnt a risk and isnt likely to move the needle.

Id rather take a swing and miss than just wallow in mediocrity but be able to defend it.

Same reason most of us are so onboard with the current moves that have been made

Imagine if we had the boss and king getting off the injury list before GTA 6. For me Ross being injury free is just as impact as bringing in a ruckman with superstar aura tapping the ball to Nas, Phillipou and Flanders.

Last hour of the pre season

Drink it in boys
Genuinely - is this the best pre-season we've ever had?

We brought in some seriously good players in 2000/2001, but this just feels different. It looks like everything we've touched in the last 6 months has turned to gold.

This has got to be our best pre-season ever.

Harris Andrews will likely be out for our round 3 game. Went full Mortal Kombat on that doggy player.

I really hope so

Nas, Pou, Flanders, Wilson, Garcia, Higgins, Ryan, Sincs

We're in a pretty good spot

Plus how much better is it to watch - rather than stagnated stoppages and then more numbers around the ball.

Quicker skilled sides have been getting on a roll eg Sydney. But that will add to the interest to see the game evolve to see what tactics work to slow that style down.

I think we will also see the elite key forwards return to kicking big numbers, hence the return of Minx wont come soon enough.

The Hun's recent coverage of Essendon's self-destruction covered this, a significant reason they pursued Gresh was the understanding that the first round compensation would then be traded back to them for Shiel.

"In late 2023 the Bombers and St Kilda had all but agreed on an arrangement that would see Jade Gresham cross to Essendon, with Dylan Shiel heading to the Saints.

The Saints believed they would secure first-round free agency compensation; the Bombers thought they could get St Kilda’s pick 14.

But in the week leading up to the trade period, Shiel was playing with his daughter at home when he tore the meniscus in his knee. The Saints lost interest in Shiel and pulled out of the discussions, but the Bombers felt duty-bound to still secure Gresham."

It's notable that Essendon thought they'd get our pick, but the article doesn't say we were actually willing to give it up.

And as I said elsewhere - the people having a go at us for big money plays seem to be hypocrites/ill-informed/biased/all of the above, so who cares what they think?

Bloody hell- we owe Dylan Shiel's daughter a trip to disneyland for saving us from ourselves!!!

Apparently the Lions could be missing a few:
  • Harris Andrews concussing Artie Jones
  • Zac Bailey elbowed Michael Selwood in the head
  • Darcy Gardiner got Naughton in the face with an elbow in a marking contest

Three spins of the wheel, coming right up!

I'd be surprised if any of them get 3 weeks though. Maybe Andrews, but I reckon it'll be 2
