Driving past it, looks impressive.
Def on a lot of land. There are two ovals. One oval they will use for AFLW, which has a bit of a grandstand, but the main one, is very out in the open. Yet to have any trees there.

Good game of footy this was. This would have been the first hitout of any game these boys would have played, so thought they did pretty well.

They will have another in September.
Yes, I enjoyed it and was a bit surprised at the skill levels.
Do you know the name of the commentator?

Kravic and Rodan were described as the standout leaders of the Multicultural side, co-captaining them to victory, with Kravic finishing with 21 disposals as an inside midfielder

THE SEASON-OPENER

Oakleigh Chargers vs. Northern Knights
Round 1 | Saturday March 21, 10:30am @ Highgate Recreation Reserve

The 2026 season gets underway in Craigieburn with a Metro double-header, starting with the clash between Oakleigh and Northern. Both sides were bundled out of the postseason by Sandringham last year, but will be keen to kick off their campaigns on the right foot. After the Chargers and Knights take centre stage, Calder and Western will step up to complete the day’s play.

THE ULTIMATE RIVALRY

Oakleigh Chargers vs. Sandringham Dragons
Round 2 | Saturday March 28, 1:30pm @ RSEA Park
Round 12 | Sunday June 7, 11:00am @ RSEA Park
Round 23 | Saturday August 22, TBC @ Kennedy Community Centre

Local rivals Oakleigh and Sandringham will again play off thrice throughout the home-and-away rounds, helping form the start, middle and end of their respective campaigns. The two fixtures at RSEA Park promise to draw big crowds, with the second being a standalone game in Round 12. Scheduling these two regions to meet in the first block, APS break, and final block allows the best opportunity for top-end talent to be a

So, do we have the chance to select Kravic next year?
Yes. He's eligible to us.
He'll play for scotch this year, but hopefully get to see him in some oakleigh games as well.

CLUBS PREPARE FOR ACADEMY, FATHER-SON CHANGES

Greater Western Sydney is fighting a rearguard action over academy access as clubs prepare for the AFL to scrap the 10 per cent points discount over father-son and academy picks.

The league will in coming weeks bring in changes for the 2026 national draft, with clubs aware that it might make clubs in the top four unable to match bids on top five draftees.

Clubs are hopeful the league has warned of more drastic changes before watering them down in coming weeks.

But as revealed by the Herald Sun, clubs believe if they match a bid for a first-round pick they can only use a maximum of two first-round selections to secure the points required.

On Saturday the Giants played a Hawthorn side which had 70 per cent of its players hailing from Victoria.

POINTS VALUE OF TOP 10 PICKS (DRAFT VALUE INDEX)

1. 3000
2. 2481
3. 2178
4. 1962
5. 1795
6. 1659
7. 1543
8. 1443
9. 1355
10. 1276
11. 1205
12. 1140

By contrast there are only 27 per cent of NSW players on the Giants list this year.

That discrepancy is another reminder of the challenges for the Giants, which also have a flow-on effect in attempting to retain Victorian players.

The Giants are determined to try to continue bringing players into the club from their local academy to create a more level platform.

If the 10 per cent discount to match a bid is removed Carlton might still need to secure 3000 draft points for a Cody Walker selection.

With pick seven in the national draft worth 1543 draft points, Carlton (which has two first-round selections this year) would need two picks of that value.

It has Sydney’s first-round pick which looks like it will end up closer to 20 than seven.

So it will need to improve at least one of those draft picks by trading away later selections so it has two top-10 draft picks which add up to somewhere near 3000 points.

Looks like the discount will disappear, and it'll be hard for a top 4 team to match a top prospect without doing some good trades. Or trading out players

So is that a Good or Bad Thing?
