Hot Topic Michael Voss - Coaching in 2026. Should he remain beyond that?

One of the worst wins I've ever seen.

You could not have made many more strategic howlers to contribute negatively to the team output than Voss.

Picking Fog.
Picking HOK.
Picking Young.
Playing Young on Lynch.
Not holding back some of the mids in the first half to ensure fresh legs for the 3rd quarter.
Playing Cripps forward when he can't kick for goal.
Picking Chesser.
Playing too many slow mids.
Playing Williams in defense when we can't kick a goal.
Playing Kemp as the loose man in defense - dumb footballer in a spot that needs smarts.
Keeping Hayward too far up the ground.
Picking Ollie Hollands.
Not picking Boyd .
Not picking Byrne.
Zoning space to defend transition.
Bombing the ball constantly out of defense.

The list goes on and on and on and on.

None of his strategic maneuvers have worked.

Voss has absolutely no right to be anywhere near this team. He is just an incredibly dumb coach. Why do we have to endure this?

The available players should be belting Richmond by 50+. As they proved in the first half they are far better.

In fairness - if we didn't play those guys....then who? List is average at best, and that's not Voss

Guys like Derksen, Byrne, Boyd, Flynn Young, etc. are sitting there ready to go and would make the team stronger. This is what Voss does - borederline calls he get's them almost all wrong. Each one adds up and in the end it's a disaster.

Our team selection under him has always been terrible. But it's not even the worst of his coaching. If he cannot stop these guys jogging out of defensive 50 and bombing it up in the air then he needs to go. It is what killed us all night.

I'd rather watch Jack Ison running up and down the wing than Ollie gimping around butchering opportunities all night again.

Voss is categorically the worst coach in the league. He has no idea how to structure the team on the field and no game plan at all.

The game plan is finally evolving but we don't have the team to play last year's contest or this year's forward surge for a full match or even three quarters.

I'm still not a voss fan, I'm furious about the Richmond game but I do think there is effort behind the scenes to finally make changes

I think it's called picking your best players and not playing favourites.

What possible reason is there for picking Fogarty? It's like going in one man down.

Derksen is a billion miles in front of Young who is a pure panic merchant. Incredibly dumb footballer.

Playing the kids doesn't always mean you're giving up on the season. When the older guys are players like Fogarty, most kids will contribute more both now and in the future.

We fade out in second halves when leading. That is mental. It's not fitness.

Voss can't fix it - he's had umpteen chances now. He is paid the big bucks for a reason. The buck stops there.

I don't disagree re: Voss but calling our list 'fantastic' is hyperbolic to suit your agenda. The list is still horribly imbalanced.

Is it their fault? Is it the lack of structure making everything hard and tedious?

I have no idea but I know it shits me when invariably one or more of Sidebottom, Crisp, Daicos, Elliot, Pendles stand up when the Pies need them.

I have been saying it for years, systems over individuals and leadership density where players on field take responsibility to adapt the plan in the moment.

The captain should be the best leader, not the best player imo.

I've worked it out. It's so obvious. I just don't know why I didn't see this until tonight.
He is doing what I call 'the opposite to fly'. Collingwood won a premiership by believing they would never lose, no matter how far behind they were and would come home hard in the 2nd half.
Voss is working on getting us the lead and then a full 18 ground defence in the 2nd half. Now it's up to the players to believe and BANG Premiers!!!!

I have no idea who is going to coach Carlton in 2027, which bothers me a fair bit.

But we haven't addressed the issues that killed us last year. That is going to kill the coach. Simple as that.

The only people with a smile on their face after the siren were the kids... at least they could enjoy it, I was happy for them.

But everyone else had a long face, not even many people singing the song... it was the most miserable I've ever seen the supporter base after a win, probably in my life.
