Great words from Eddie who himself was emotional
He did appear to be a little bit teary. They who are truly in the know, and no doubt McGuire is one of them, must be aware of the damage that the ex-hawthorn coaches took.

We all carried on after the Dees win last year too ("we've got our club back!") and then promptly shat the bed against Carlton and Sydney.

Fixture is a blessing in that we've got a proper block of winnable games to test against
Yes.

I'm not in on that whole "sack Clarko" thing but after watching the performance on Sunday we're capable of being 5-1 after the Richmond game.

That should be what we aim for and I hope that's the expectation in the footy department.

I will say that I think the Port performance was better - we were more mature and in control for longer periods, whereas the Dees game was a freak 10-15 minute burst.

Yeah there's alot of difference. There were times in the past where we might have lost or even just let Port get a run on but we were able to control the game twice when they were kicking goals, once early, once late. It looked like proper modern footy for long periods too.

Port are okay but their forward line is young like we've been so only one player really challenged us. That made life easier. Two or three sides are in that boat against us over the next five weeks.

I thought we really could have dropped our bundle when to 2 goals were overturned then port goaled.

Fortunately it wasn't the case.

Cam Mooney clearly has a soft spot for us going by most of his comments during the game. Felt like a barracker at times.
He's always been pretty generous to us - to be honest though I think it's mostly just his approach. He seems to have avoided the hyperbole and nonsense approach of most special comments people.

Here we go,

Stay off media st and let actions speak.
This is just modern footy and how clubs make money. I wouldn't overthink it.

Good to see Ben McKay defending *'s BIG 4 status on the news and pleading for patience.

There seems to be an element at * that's more concerned with some mythical "big 4 club" status than the sandpit they've been in for 2 decades.

Hope it continues.

We all quickly realised that the Dees game was a false dawn. What's different this time, and what I particularly liked about the weekend, was the 4 quarter effort – the win somehow feels more deserved. I'm happy for them to go down media street off the back of this. Having said that it doesn't change anything about the game against they Eagles simply have to back it up with another win.

Couple of those Port errors were reminiscent of the Dees' errors. There are a couple of differing factors, such as that this time Port started the last quarter better and we had to respond, but I'm very keen to see us in a game where the oppo play up to their potential. Port were shit. They're not as shit as they played
