Kind of funny how British football supporters bigged themselves up that 5 PL clubs finished in the Top 8 of the group stage. A couple months later and two of those clubs have been eliminated by way of drubbings and Tottenham are 5-2 down after their 1st leg.

Then you have Newcastle who finished a respectable 12th lol.

In all fairness, Chelsea were knocked out by the French Champions and current Champions of Europe, Newcastle were knocked out by the Spanish champions, Spurs finished 17th and came up against a Spanish powerhouse with about 4 fit players.

It's not like the English sides who got eliminated came up against minnows. They all played quality sides who are a genuine chance of going on to win the tournament.

City are the only ones I look at who you can say probably should've done better.

The English champions and the English runner ups both ended up cruising through their ties with relative ease.

Why would you expect one, you can't handle a conversation about why I post in the spurs thread and instead invent some arsenal bias.

Nvm the fact I nearly got banned from the Tottenham thread because some of their fans wanted me out for not being a supporter either

The main epl thread is full of whingeing about team biases like this which makes it a nightmare for actual conversation about the sport.

Bodo on a bad night away from home are about Wigan's level though, a bit like Gala tonight. If Sporting bring their level from the away game to London, that leg will be 5+ goals in Arsenal's favour.

Anyway, you never know what will happen but it should be a walk in the park as far as QFs go.

We are also the highest scoring team. Sure, our defence has been great, but we've scored more than anyone else too. And none of our defenders are our top scorers either.

You're right, you're not a contender. You'll be lucky to get Europa at this rate. Maybe focus on the reality.

All ifs and buts for sure, but a lot of Chelsea fans were saying this preseason too about the defence.

Maresca had us playing some winning football but the backline and goalkeeper consistently let us down.

Not much of a stretch to suggest a better backline has us contending in a weak year.

City are “contending” and they’ve been horrible. Arsenal have got by on dodgy set piece tactics with the occasional reminder of how good they can be.

I just watched Melbourne for 4 years win for the sake of winning to the point I stopped watching because there was no enjoyment in the sport
