Imagine watching the way we played for three quarters and thinking umpiring cost us 😂

Colossal self inflicted defeat
When we play quick we look awesome as soon as we hit the lead and changed to slow we lost its very obvious coaching lost us the game.

The umpires didn't help but they aren't the reason for the loss

Yeah, that was a game. No GBU, but some quick thoughts.

Got outworked at the contest, big time. 48-71 tackle count is a worrying stat because if you're outdoing a team by tackling, it also tends to translate towards winning more contested ball/clearances as it means the team is getting more numbers close enough to impact. It seemed we lifted in our intensity in last and it led to a comeback, but when you have to expend that much energy, it only takes a couple of lost contests/mistakes and that's it.

When were moving it faster really seems predicated by winning clearances, which is not a great sign with a middling midfield. It's not that we're "playing faster/more aggressive", it's we are winning more 50/50s.

This short kicking/try to pick through the defense kicking style really doesn't work. This team needs to find a damaging half back flanker to pin an offensive game, whether that's Hinge or someone else. It's a backline that really lacks spark/creativity and it shows when teams sit off on us.

You run through the stat sheet and there are a lot of players pulling big numbers that you don't want to see pulling big numbers. Jones, Berry, Butts and Murray in particular, especially towards half time. Dogs did well shutting down our good ball movers and freeing up our weaker ones.

God this team needs Keane back.

All in all, ah well it's round 2. Jagging that win against Collingwood becomes a bit more valuable now.

Look, I am pissed, but losing by 6 to the benchmark team isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things.
This is true, also we are now aware we can match it with the best teams. It's coaching moments that are hindering us

No honorable loss here.

Once again coaching not to lose.

Did the Bulldogs kick one quality goal other than the last 2?

That really was a dogs breakfast of a game of football by us. Didn't deserve to win.

People will point to the frees. I will point to the tackles - 70 to 43. And to Nicks having Rankine on the bench late. Piss poor.
Rankine starts a fire with a massive goal. Nek minute he’s on the bench. He should have been at the next centre bounce ffs

3 huge factors:

Nicks will the worst game style in the league. He is a master politician of spin but, as we saw in finals, the emperor has no clothes. Are we seriously going to waste this list on him?

Umpiring was blatant. Exactly the same incident type was umpired differently depending on the team. The non-HTB for us followed 10 seconds later by HTB for them in the exact same manner said it all.

We have so many overrated players when the pressure is on. You expect them to collectively choke.

Hopefully the media shreds him this week like they did with Lyon for taking NWM off late. He deserves it.

Did you actually watch the game, to put Jordan Butts in that tonight is absolute bullshit. He was huge all night hardly lost a contest all night.

Some ridiculously coaching decisions after we took the lead. Honestly just dumb.

Need some players to say hey we are motoring just kicked 5 in row let's keep going forget what the coaches are saying let's win this.

It will be a slower start, but you certainly will want to make good of the home stretch after next week. Get into May 4-2.

You do have to have “modes” and obviously finding the balance between attack and defence. Time to get that balance towards attacking.
