Is he played out of position, forward pocket player for Demons?

We're using him the same way the Demons has, and how ANB made his name for himself. That high half forward role which really doubles as a supplementary midfielder/wing etc.

Salary spent on him and achee could be redirected to a proper a grade mid.

Had 11 disposals as captain. Schoenberg had 13 today on a 10th of the salary. ANB might be better, doesn't mean it was what our side needed.

ANB has been excellent since coming to us, was nearly BOG against collimgwood 2 weeks ago.

I could also be elected to be the Pope in a few weeks.

There is no doubt we tried to woo a "proper A grade" mid, and there is no doubt we failed in doing so. Heck, you leave Ah Chee at the alter, if you have to, which we had the option of doing last year.

ANB is a quality b grader. In a position we don't need someone else. Even an adequate second ruck would have been a better investment.

If only players were judged solely on a single game as opposed to their whole career.

He’s been pretty good, but he certainly shouldn’t be highly paid or on a long term contract. He’s a nice bits and pieces player that wanted to come home, he’s not a difference maker, he’s the type that makes our worst of the best 23 a bit better.

But from memory, we extended his deal and paid him more to get him. I think we also overpaid for Ah Chee and Cumming. Both role players that we paid top 10 player deals for. We’ve been ok in this area, but we’ve also been lucky.

We went hard at a couple players that have been terrible and we were lucky to miss out. Now we have Cumming on big coin, and somehow now a leader, looking like being a disaster.

I wonder if we were a legitimate chance at Oliver? He’d have fitted into our group pretty well, bit we shunned him for the higher valued Petracca that played us like a fiddle.

Like the collingwood game? Again, good player. We didn't and don't need him.
Yeah, let's get Murphy back rather than chasing players to improve our side.

Go ahead and list all the A Grade mids that have changed clubs in the past two years.

So, who is this “proper A Grade midfielder” you think he could have gained?

And, what trade commodity did we have that would have got the trade over the line.

There seems to be an almost pathological need for some supporters to declare the ANB/Cumming/Peatling trade period a failure.

ANB is doing well. He's not a world-beater, but he was never going to be. He's a very valuable cog in our side, and offers heaps of leadership, as well as premiership experience. That's what he was brought in to do, and he's doing it just fine.

There's more than a dozen players I'd be looking at before worrying about him.

There are two blokes we used top five picks on that we should be a lot more worried about.

And I'm not talking about Filthy.
