What about the fact that Carlton only just beat Richmond. Oh yeah, that one doesn't fit the narrative.

People are quick to forget Carlton always start well and fade badly in the second half. Melbourne already pegging them back.

Anyway, it's hard to quantify the fast starts as it's a gamble to use the energy early on and if the other team stick with it they might have more in reserve come the final quarter. The Dees were coming back hard against us but we were able to have enough planning to weather it..
