Anyone would prefer Hewett over Macrae but if you listen to Mini's press conference, as well as Ch7 interview, he quite clearly states they want him to build form & fitness in the WAFL and not rush him back in.
I dont think it counts as rushing him back if hes doing 80 minutes in the WAFL, and we have a spot in the side to let him play less than full minutes.
He would be on full minutes in the WAFL this week anyway, 60-65% TOG this week in the AFL, even if a bunch of it is in the forward line is not rushing him back at all

Hewett doing smaller minutes vs Macrae doing any minutes, im taking Hewett 100 times out of 100

I know what Mini said but as I said hes done close to full minutes anyway

OUT: Yeo (inj),Newton (inj), Robertson (susp)
IN: Champion, Hewett, Brock

  • Champion was travelling emergency so I think he'll come in to replace Newton.
  • I think they would've liked to have Hewett play more WAFL minutes but with both Yeo and Robertson out I could see them bringing him into the AFL side but still on managed minutes. Alternatively Finn Macrae likely.
  • Brock I think needs to come in to help deal with their tall forwards (Curnow, Amartey, McDonald). Push Baker up the ground like we did in the second half v Port.
IF Liam Duggan is out (seems like he'll be fine), I'd say Tom Cole probably comes in.

He did 70% on the weekend I think.

Big step up in intensity between WAFL and AFL though and considering his history, I doubt they want to flirt with bringing him back too early, even on managed minutes, which is why I think Macrae will get a shot this week. He just needs to play the in & under role, or run with Warner. Graham can step into Yeo's boots for a game and do his midfield minutes. Baker goes forward and Maric comes in.

So would be:
Macrae - Dev
Champion - Newton
Maric - Yeo(obviously not playing the Yeo role, just shifting the magnets around)

Now I wouldn't be unhappy to see Hewett come into the side. I'm just going off Mini's comments. If he is deemed fit enough then I expect to see him straight in.

Ins: Brock, Champion, McRae, Dewar..
Out: yeo, Duggan,Robbo, newton,

Ginbey to play the Duggan role, Brock to play on the talls.. baker forward… no Tom Cole under any circumstances… grego would be better

Yeo -> Hewett - Hewett is an automatic selection as much as many would think otherwise, and hes fit enough. Dont overthink it. Hes still our 3rd best young midfield prospect and one of our most talented kids.
Dev -> Brock - Allan/McCarthy go from d50 to the midfield to replace. Easy as. Modify the CBA % to make it suit, with Graham probably taking a few more.
Newton -> Champion

Dont want Macrae in like wtf, who tf wants to bring in Macrae over Hewett???

Its pretty much the exact situation we have a guy like Macrae on the list

If Ginbey is gonna play the Duggan role then we'll need another tall..
Ginbey -> Curnow
Young -> Amartey
Brock -> McDonald

Hough, Lindsay, Baker and McCarthy are too short to play on any of those three

Does anyone follow the injury lists of the other teams? How does ours compare in terms of numbers/quality?

10 players out for multiple weeks, Duggo might be okay but Grossy will need time to build fitness

I hope this isnt like the last time we had a stirring win away (v Coll 2022) and the following week (v syd at optus) we were all very bullish and Sydney came out and had us 0-56 at one point.

Feels like a different mindset and mentality around the club lately but these injuries are adding up

Not letting me share, but the AFL site has the league wide injury lists posted every Tuesday evening.

Struth this injury list is ****ing brutal. Talk about a punch square in the peen.

Imagine if we didn't have the additional list spot of Dev, Schoenberg and Macrae.

IN - Hewett (underdone yay), Champion, Brock (underdone yay)
OUT - Dev, Yeo, Newton.

Fair downgrade on personnel this week.

Starcevich still AWOL (shock), Gross returning from injury so no fitness base... Going to be really testing the depth out now.

And if it’s anything like previous years - it is almost always very inaccurate.

Yes that’s fair enough 😆. There is the standard TBCs here and there, but I find it handy when preparing for tipping. And it “seems” like the reporting has improved so far this year, but early days.

From our perspective, I get upset with young players being hit by long term injuries (like Long and now Newton). Not fussed about minor ailments, we need to be playing as many guys as possible to see who has it or not, so freshening up the team where possible (forced changes or otherwise) is important.

When you are playing for finals and higher it is far more stressful and can ruin, see GWS 😬

Cripps was a non enity vs Fold Coast, has kicked 1 decent goal vs Norf and 1 vs Poort, the other 2 against Norf were straight up gifts

Missed an absolute sitter from 15 meters out to ice the game and then shanked one after the siren that was very kickable, lord have mercy if that was a shot to win the game

Looked slow and and weary last weekend, Sidernee will run the old fella off his feet

Need to get Champion in asap, let him cook at the feet of the 3 big units inside forward 50, the future is now.

Newton going down might be his saving grace but he'd wanna start laying some tackles and kicking straight

Only for my AFL Fantasy team or West Coast's opponent for the week :tearsofjoy:

Why do you hate Cripps so much? Did he run over your dog or steal your misso or something? Lies all lies.

I don't hate ole Crippa, but it's just the right move at this stage, he will have a role to play at times this year but a phase out is on the cards. Did himself no favors with that abhorrent miss. Not to mention the very first foray forward we had in the first term after 4 was put on our chin in quick succession he proceeded to kick out on the full under no pressure.

Yes and he played his role perfectly on the weekend. It should be his role for the rest of the season until we have no mids left to call upon.
He is a high quality WAFL top up only.

Does anyone follow this West Coast Fan TV. Someone sent it to me and said they are legit. But I cant see this news anywhere else and think its bs.
