Autopsy Swans get their kicks by 66

VICCommentary has reached a new low.

Liked the way we wrestled the momentum they had in the first. Was a plan B used?

Rub of the green felt good.

Mclean in for Mcdonald.
We’ve seen Melican omitted, Hamling omitted and if Cox’s selection integrity has any merit at all and he wants to set standards then you are spot on with that suggestion. There is no running from it. He was terrible and has been ordinary for the majority of the first 7 games.

Dunno what the bulldogs supporters are whingeing about. We were first to the ball. Salty.
I remember after the GF they were saying they didn't get penalised through that game because Bevo coached them in a way that meant they didn't give away free kicks. Why didn't they do that tonight. Are they stupid?

That Bice turnover in the first was the oddest thing I've seen in a while. He had Edwards wide open , overthought everything

That was just a one-off Clanger. Can happen.

What did trouble me a bit was a couple of fairly weak tackle efforts. It cost him his spot last season - looks like it remains an area needing focus.

Yep but he has been excellent week in week out, I think it the turnover screwed him up , he did battle hard

Sorry another negative is Logan just a nothing game which is concerning when we are dominating as that should be the easiest and on his terms.

Right now Amartey >>> Logan
I really think the strategy with our tall forwards is hindering Logan.

The strategy is to very much lengthen the field playing from behind with a view to allow th maximum space for mids to run and then kic to forwards 20 m out

Logan fundamentally is a guy who needs to lead to the ball and take it on his chest

I remain concerned that our entire attack seems to be based on turnover and wave helper shelter forward. The pace in the ball is absolutely exciting but I’m not really sure we are looking dangerous from stop plays forward of centre.

The speed we are playing with does inevitably lead to errors as running fast to support the ball carrier and then giving to the first voice works so long as th first voice is inner best position. But it does pressure opponents from the first ball up given how quick we are going.

I think our Achilles heel are mobile tall forwards - naughton is a very tough matchup for mccartin (and I really hope he’s ok) as his mobility and leap are tricky - but mabior chip gave him similar problems against the hawks

There’s a lot to like about this side and they’re doing a lot right. It’ll be interesting how we go if we cop a heavy track - the slipperiness at the mcg I think did cause us some problems

If Edwards can develop into a regular he's going to be very handy to help out Tommy if the opposition has a couple of big units in the forward line to cover

on that game, he's a regular ...
before the game, i was thinking "just give him time, give him a month, whatever, let him find his feet" ...
and early on tonight, he dropped a simple mark and a couple of other things didn't quite go right and you could imagine him going into his shell, but obviously that's not in him ... and in fact it seemed to ignite him ... he threw himself into everything he got near, and had some really impressive moments ...
so just leave him there and let him learn, and let him see how he can really boost this already pretty good team
and cootee will improve for sure with that under his belt ... and is already ahead of cleary and corey warner, for starters

Feels good that we debuted players and the general vibe for them is positive, shows that they won't directly cost a game or make a game and thus we should be rewarding solid VFL form.

Will be tough on someone to be dropped for Heeney, yes it will probably be Cootee and the magnets shuffled but there isn't much more that can honestly be done in that 8th forward role

I dont know why they are complaining about us complaining that in a close GF it was the most lopsided free kick in history.

I would of thought any supporter would feel cheated right?

Imagine if it was reversed and we ruined their fairytale with a 20-8 free kick ratio

Anyways it was a decade ago its telling they still bring it up lol

Afl bests Blakey, Curnow, McCartin, Papley , mills, Warner

Find that odd
Who'd they leave out? Grundy? Beat up on a kid. McInerney was well held for most of the night. Roberts involved though not particularly damaging. Sheldrick solid but not match winning... better than Mills? Perhaps. Serong... possibly. Amartey had moments. Agree about Chad being an odd inclusion though. Top 4 very clear to me.

Wicks imo and Blakey wouldn't be first that's all , Sheldrick was better than Mills imo

Lots more tests to come for the side and coaching staff no doubt especially as you mentioned sides that can really stifle our movement and defend well (Hawks,Freo)
