Its not a lack of strength - its a lack of reach and leap that troubles him.

I think his leap is fine. When fresh he can get up there quite high.

He just isn't getting up there much after he's gassed out and been bashed around.

Maybe needs to work on his conditioning and ability to absorb opposion hits in ruck contests.

But it's just part of his development.

We had a 101-point win against West Coast.

We have a huge game against Carlton on Saturday night.

Things are looking more positive after a rocky start to the season.

I don't really understand why there is so much bed-wetting over TDK's contract after seven games.

Probably injury affected too.

At the end of the day, if he is a strong contributor to a St Kilda premiership in the next eight years, the money was worth it right?

At the end of the day...some people just love doing laundry

Just on Wilson, he has now moved into the inside midfield and showing he can play inside aswell as outside.

If we are going anywhere with this team it's on the back of guys like Wilson, Hugo and Nas as our future midfield.

There is no planet on which losing Wilson is ok at this stage of his career. Priority number one in my opinion above any recruits or signings.

Being concerned about paying a ruckman 1.7 isn't bedwetting.

Thinking it may affect other contracts isn't without merit.

Regardless, I think he's going ok. I feel like in early games he was getting first touch a lot... our midfield just weren't reading it well. I'm really hoping that can all gel and he starts to tear shit up. I'd also like to see him get some confidence in front of goals. Could be a weapon there if he can kick straight.

I'm hopeful he turns out to be an absolute gun for us.

Its bed wetting if you dont know the absolute facts. because unless youre in the St Kilda hierarchy, then you dont. It could be UP to 1.7m per year..its could very well be 2m first 2 years then 800k after that...it could be anything

Luke Jackson? When did he look like a bust? He is 2 years younger than De Koning and has always been the better player.
At Melbourne he looked terrible and did not gel with Gawn. When did we have a chance to get him BTW? The comparsion is silly if we couldn't get him.

From what I understand TDK can earn up to $1.8m.

Up to, not guaranteed. Assume that's incentives involving B&F, AA, team performance, etc.

There's also a marketing component. From memory that's up to $200k.

And they added an extra year to provide flexibility (aka pay him less per year but over a longer term)

According to Gubby we have the space to go shopping again.

Whether we do that or pay Willo what he wants is the question.

100% it isn't.

There is a difference between having a concern over something and bedwetting repeatedly.

I just find the endless commentary amusing this early - that's all I'm stating - which I think is fair enough.

How tall is Barret now anyway. They rarely stay at their draft height, so is he still sitting at 194cm?

Shame we didn't bring in Aleer, would have been and easy scapegoat to brings us all together
Speaking of Aleer,

There seems to be a strong focus on what we might get wrong with list management, instead of what we look to have got right so far.

There was ruthless-ness in the exit of the Aleer deal. Possibly morally questionable. But it looks to be a bang on call with Silvagni's excellence. Haven't really seen too much made of that.

Our other three recruits look pretty good.

Tauru, Banfield and Fincher all look super impressive so far, but focus is on Travaglia, who may be a bust but also might be developing slower.

I just think it's a strange way to look at things all the time. People can look at things however they want, of course. But if you put your view in a public forum, it's going to get questioned probably a lot. I expect the same directed my way.

Good point.

He could be taller.

Plenty of time for Barrat to make it still. I haven't watched much of him but I'm buoyed by the reports of the VFL watchers.

195cm Josh Worrell played one AFL game in his first two seasons. And only five in his first three seasons.

His first season more than 13 games was 2025 - his sixth season - and he is now pretty close to All Australian.

Point is, not every footballer takes a long time to develop, but some do.

If Barrat is improving and showing promise, then there could be something there.

When he first moved to Freo he was getting bagged by their fans.
True, but he was a 21 year old ruck when he got to Freo. I would be surprised if anyone thought he was a bust, they were probably just annoyed they had to give up a lot of draft capital for him and he wasn't a gun straight away.

At Melbourne he looked terrible and did not gel with Gawn. When did we have a chance to get him BTW? The comparsion is silly if we couldn't get him.
I don't remember him that well at Melbourne but I thought he was fine. He was the rising star and played 52 games in his first 3 years on an AFL list.

I just had a squiz through some of the team photos trying to get a better idea and the best I can come up with is that he is taller then Owens and Philipou who he was standing between.

IF he has grown he might be 195.

Not that it really matters, May was a top class KPD at 193.

Yeah I agree.

It's the quality of defender and quality of the team defensive system that should be considered always over height in a defender anyway.

Sure, if we can sign a 200cm defender for value either through trade or draft, hook it to my veins.

But not just for the sake of acquiring any defensive 200m tall player or talent.

Maybe he just need to fast forward his age … 😉🤣

TDK was clear 1 or 2 ruck last year before his throat injury and he has been carrying injury these past few games

I know everyone is hungry but the TDK/ Marshall pairing needs a little longer to marinate

If you look over those games from last year, he was more or less breaking even with his opponent most weeks. He was putting up decent numbers but he wasn't clearly winning his position. That doesn't make you a top 2 ruck in the comp, and that was his career best patch of form.

Here's a mad idea - Tauru second ruck. If Roma leaves and we want to get Tauru in the team, he could play forward and go into the centre and use that ridiculous leap. Owens can then switch out and do the wrestling around the ground which he's always excelled at.
