Out of contract this year. 1 year extension would make him a free agent next year. If he wants to return home, would it even be possible he could get band 1 compensation (McCreery is lol).

Or 2 year extension and target some of the picks they'll need to trade.

Or just sign him up for 4-5 years?

What would be the best option?

Some posters have mentioned Jed Walter.
Have not seen him play often so I will not comment on his potential.
Dima has dropped Jed, so he might seek a change.

If i was Josh gibcus i would request a trade to the Lions they know how to manage injuries
Had dodee debuted yet , similar health. I’d encourage him to leave , fwiw I think there’s enough evidence kids mentally shot at RFc and needs a circuit breaker

Said last week I’d trade our pic 1 for
Walter + Jake Roger’s and GC r1 next year

And I’m dead serious

That’s a moot point , he was t rated period by many
Most rated Langford. Jagga and defiantly Reid a lot of us weren’t sold on. I wasn’t sure Reid or Jaggas game would translate to afl. To do a degree I’m still not sure Jaggas style is good for afl.

Strategy time:

  • Pick 1 Harry Van Hattum - This is non negotiable. We’ve basically never drafted a good ruck, here’s a big one that can get around like a midfielder, lock him in.

  • Mid season draft best available, preferably a midfielder or key defender in our age profile.

  • Try to get any or all of Joe Berry, Leek Aleer, and Sam Marshall.

  • NGA Tanner Armstrong.

  • Ask the AFL for a priority pick, not only do we now fit the criteria, we’ve been cruelled by injuries to almost all of our draftees since and including our 2021 crop, huge setbacks.

  • Look at the training surface and/or Ben Serpell, it’s time to change something.

  • Zak Butters… maybe? But not at the expense of draft picks.

Would I trade pick 1 for Walter and Rogers? Nope. I want Harry Van Hattum, not negotiable we have to take him.
I really like Walter and maybe we can try to get him another way, but I think he’ll lock his spot in at the Suns by the end of the year, and either way I’m still bullish on Jonty Faull. A good side around him and another couple of preseasons, and he’ll be a solid player. He’s competitive and has good follow up efforts, you can’t really teach that. He’ll improve you’ll see.

Agree. One of the most ridiculous suggestions of all time to trade pick 1 for Walter, Rogers and GC's F1st which would be a pick in the 25-30s.

Rogers and Walter are both out of contract. Ludicrous to suggest giving up a generational ruckman for them.

Give one a massive deal and walk them to the pre-season draft.

And then a 2nd rounder + 3rd/Future 2nd for the other.

We have our full suite of picks to work with our 2026/2027 first rounders are clearly untouchables.

You give up pick 1 for a bonafide superstar, not 2 young guys who haven't even shown anywhere near elite football yet.

Because of the new draft compo rules if we trade pick one we lose the start of second rounder we get as well.

And with the tas concessions next year the GC first is likely looking 20+ before nga and fs picks.

So pick 1 and 22 for Walter, Rogers and 25ish?

No thanks.

If we have the money for butters and he doesn't come, I'd be offering Zac Bailey a huge offer as a f/a. Brisbane won't be able to match. give him more mid field time and he would fit perfect with lalor, hotton, cumming, smilie midfield/ forward rotation

Know it's been a bad year for injuries but I'm pretty bullish when we get the boys back and we get the no 1 pick next year on a ruck. Nank can then play around the ground. Been a hard year but ratschenko being the first winger in a while at the club and getting some time to develop the kids will be good long term. I just don't care about the doom and gloom
