Just lost 2 minutes of my life listening to that idiot Zander McGuire. Speculates a 4-6 week layoff and refers to kings “monster” 1.5 million dollar contract as an issue. Sure doesn't let truth get in the way of a sensationalised story. AFL should giving him a fair kick in the arse as a representative of the game. That is serious misreporting which he would know is not true.

Either that or the rest of our list plays for packets of chips and free coke from a vending machine.
Everyone knows NAS and TDK are on $2 mill, King and Wilkie are on $1.5 mill, and Pou, JSOS and Flanders are on $1 mill. Leaves $8 mill for the rest of the list.
Oh, I forgot, we're still paying $1 mill for Steele.

I think making the connection to his contract and injury was pretty poor but I also thought it was pretty well accepted the contract was about $1m a year over the length and front loaded so likely 1.5-1.3 in the first few years?

Wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for his surname

His father was gifted the position of GM of 9 Entertainment and Packer had to sack him within months because he was in no way suitable for such a position.

So back to hosting game shows!!

His son is indeed a chip off the old block, his position resulting in him being the author of this tripe down to his father's profile, not performance.

Media, hey?

Hammies aren’t as straightforward but also aren’t as complicated as they’re made out to be.

Depending on a person’s running/walking gait, the hamstring often experiences less load during a light jog compared to a walk as there is minimal additional contraction demands during a jog, and the reduced stride length compared to the walk leads to a net reduction in load. So people can have a decent hamstring injury and still jog, ride a bike, etc. So you can’t read into that too much.

Where they’re historically mismanaged in lower levels of sport is that athletes believe pain-free = recovery. In reality pain-free at rest, walking, or in a jog can be easy over a month before you’re ready to return to play as the hamstring is only meaningfully recruited during acceleration/deceleration, maintaining high speed running, and higher end eccentric loading (e.g picking up a ball whilst running).

The tricky ones are central tendon injuries or T-junction injuries, but these should be caught quickly at AFL level given they’re so trigger happy on imaging.

Max’s mechanism was innocuous but they did the right thing to pull him off. It’ll give fuel to the media fire that surrounds his injury history, but taking this approach and the unnecessary flak is better than showing a brave face, pushing it, and then being out for longer.
As I have put before, in watching on TV he was on a lead to mark, some early body contact seeing him slightly turned landing on the outside of his foot for one step ahead of taking the ball, then when lining up for a shot on goal feeling around his hamstring region.

Short passed then walked off not appearing inconvenienced or distressed

So he did not pull up short, grabbing for his hamstring.

"Awareness" is the word and precaution was the response.

Anyway, we will find out as we will with Clark who played out the game before swelling in the knee.

Both players are vital.

Max has only just turned 25. If he was 32 I'd be more worried, but his identical twin has me confident that after having a rough trot with injuries, he'll be able to come back and string a heap of good games together. No matter the current diagnosis we've really got to be super-patient. I'm also confident someone will get through to him to stop spinning the ball sideways while he's walking in to goal trying to kick an oval ball straight...

I have got to the stage where if he comes good, excellent, if not, ok we move on.

Our forward line is working without him. I worry a tiny bit that having him back in the team will cause players to kick to him when there are better choices. This used to happen.

Not saying having him back will not be an advantage, but we have to be careful not to damage what we already have while adding his size and talent to the mix.

St Kilda Football Club can confirm Max King suffered a hamstring strain during Saturday’s VFL match, with scans today confirming the injury.

The key forward is expected to spend approximately six weeks on the sidelines, with his return-to-play timeline to include a conditioning block.

Paddy Dow suffered a concussion in the latter stages of the VFL game and will now enter the AFL’s concussion protocols for a minimum of 12 days.

Scans have also confirmed a low-grade hamstring strain for Dan Butler in last night’s match against Carlton, with the small forward expected to miss approximately three to four weeks.

“It’s unfortunate for Max, particularly given the work he’s put in to return to play,” General Manager of Football Lenny Hayes said.

“We’re not going to take any risks with Max given his recent injury history. He’ll now focus on completing his rehab and conditioning block to ensure he’s in a strong position when he returns.

“Dan’s is a low-grade strain, so we expect him to progress well across the next few weeks to get himself back.

“Paddy joins Jack Higgins on the sidelines with concussion and we’ll now work through the mandated protocols over the coming period. ”

The club will provide further updates in this week’s injury update.

This is so true. The scores from inside 50s was off the charts last night. Even if he can play like the role Caminiti played (but clunk a few more) and they don't revert to the lazy option bombing towards goal we'll be really hard to beat.
