I'm not sure we fielded a lead up forward this week. Tex is too slow. TT as well. Rach...not really his style. Keays neither. Pedlar maybe but is hard to find for most of the game.

We need Fog back. He's our lead up man. Our forward line is more dangerous with the added diversity.
Or Dawson if Fog not ready to go.

Consider the target audience of those shows ... and what those audience would be interested in.

it aint the Crows ...
I know what you’re saying but I can’t get my head around if you’re a Vic who supports say St Kilda, you care if they are reporting on Crows or North or Bulldogs?

They are either reporting on your team or the 17 other teams. Why just because we’re a SA team does the whole of Vic not care? Wouldn’t Richmond fans be interested in us this week? Or would they rather hear about what’s going on at Essendon again?

Fog is dangerously close to needing a run in the 2s to get the match fitness.

Hopefully hes right to go this week, if not I reckon its a good day to debut a young forward.
But we cant. We respect our opposition too much to ever treat them as a training run

Anybody with niggles will just have to play!

Weve also got ourselves in a spot due to our poor form, that we probably HAVE to play our best available 23 from here.

Cant really afford to flirt with whatever form we do have, even against Richmond.

I disagree in the strongest possible ways, but we've been over this :sneaky: .

What happened in 2022 (no Dawson/Rankine/Rachele/Soligo and other talent) is irrelevant.
Surely, you can see that?

As recently as vs Brisbane we got "murdered like that". Just like that.
Nicks has a loss-minimisation strategy ie if we're gonna lose, don't lose by much.

He also has a negative play-to-not-lose game plan.

Heaven help us.
After all the talent we've recruited (+ Davis + Balme behind the scenes) to prop Nicks up and to justify their ridiculous gift extensions to him, you want even more of him?

Serious questions, not a trap:
--- do you want Nicks to stay, and
--- do you think that we will even play in the 2026 GF let alone win it, with Nicks' selection policies and stodgy game plan? (in the AFL only Carlton in 1995 have started 4-4 and won the Flag)
I think dumping everything on the coaches is too easy, our playing group is good but not contender level. I don't like Nicks overly defensive game plan (I loved our attack early last year), it is frustrating to see. We're such a weird side, just plod along 2 goals down then kick 5 in a row in 10 minutes, then stop again. Like... just do it all game and kick 30 goals? Not that simple of course.

Draper (please get good mate, hurry up!), Curtin and Soligo start firing in that midfield and things start to look a bit more rosey.

I went to the Showdown early and Chayce Jones was pretty good in the middle, he is certainly not a defender, forward, wingman or sub... we know that at least.

In our minds that is almost certainly true

In reality, some strategic rests will keep our younger players, older players and guys like McAndrew be at their best for the full season and help us win more games overall. But we don't see things that way

Playing Richmond is the same as a run in the twos

He was frustratingly amazing.
We did also kick it straight to him Every. Single. Time
Our great coaches couldnt give instructions for TT to run one way and we kick it to the other side?

Given what we’ve seen over the years, no.
We love hitting up an intercept player.

Can anyone decipher what on earth Dwayne screams when Cook kicks the goal? Beware the <something> Cook, no epic steal, or something? He's such a lunatic.
He says "beware the thin cook", which i thought was actually a pretty sharp thing to say at the time considering how bonkers everyone was going. I think the more common phrasingh of the saying is something like "you can't trust a skinny chef" but i could be wrong

I'm 99% sure Dwayne has something in the pocket ready to go for almost every player/scenario. For all his many flaws as a commentator, he is always very prepared.

Does he follow it up with "no steal" or "no epic steal" or something like that? I was trying to work out if it was some kind of pun about steel cookware or something.

While we're on the subject of Dwayne, Simpson was very frank in his Anzac Day commentary. He owned that the commentators had formal instructions to talk up the chances of the trailing team in a match, even if it was so far behind as to be ridiculous. Then he implied that Dwayne was in his element with this! :D

That’s one thing I’ve learned recently is even the great Dennis Cometti has these sorts of sayings ready to go (preprepared) for whenever the time arose.

And Slippery Pete has an arsenal of Seinfeld references ready to go.

I think it was 'the big steal'. I actually thought it was quite a good call that suited a high impact moment, but obviously I was primed to find it exciting.

Dwayne seems okay-ish to me. I don't love his commentary but he's not that bad, and he did this game justice I think. Also I think the fact that on both this board and the Port board everyone seems to feel he is biased to the other team is a good sign that he's pretty even-handed.

Even in Div 3 social netball, I know if if my GA is a gun, I will run as far away from everyone else in the defensive third to free up my players and get her out of the space...it only takes a couple of times seeing the play before it clicks in!!

Lots of ways that result could be split.

Both coaches agreed on the best 3 players, which isn't surprising. Just had a different #1. And then gave 2 votes to someone the other coach did not gives votes to, and both gave 1 vote to the same player.

most likely Adel voted 5 for Berry 3 from Port, 4-4 for Milera and Port voted Ailir 5 with Berry 3. Personally i thought Ailir was clear BOG but the ranking points may have influenced some for Berry massive amount of tackles
