4-0 vs 3-1, but they have Bont, Richards, Libba, Darcy, Naughton, English, Dale etc. We have Gawn, Koz, Steele and a plucky attitude.

I'm not all that impressed with Bevo finally getting the Dogs to play up to their potential. They've had some of the best talent (besides KPDs) in the comp for years.

Need to see consistency too. Bevo has had them go on great run for half a season or so but never a full year. Started well though

For someone that approaches the English language like a maniac with a claw-hammer, he’s surprisingly listenable.

I know this is sKing’s thread, but apart from the flag for which he deserves his flowers - how could you possibly conclude that the Goodwin years were anything but mediocre? Missed finals altogether in 5/9 seasons. Failed to win a final at the G after 2018.

I mean the fact the club got to a position where sacking its only flag winning coach in six decades less than four years after achieving the ultimate shows how badly the club had slid under his watch. Again, with 2021 the obvious exception, we basically finished every season with some sort of embarrassing capitulation.

Goodwin will always have a special place in the club’s history but it’s still ok to assess him as an average coach.

As has been said, today was pretty crap. However, what is evident is the scoring power and numerous goal kicking options in this side. Van Rooyen is on track for a 40 goal season. Mihocek, Fritsch, Chandler, Sharp, Langford and Pickett are on track for 30. Form may well fluctuate but those are some good numbers 9 rounds in.
