If Fawcett goes back to SA, I wonder what pick we could get for him.

Firsts aside, Adelaide have 26, 38 and 44. Port have 21, 24, 42, 50 and 60.

Ideally would want both 38 and 44.

Yze doesn't rate him, we will be lucky to get pick 63.

Codesports proposed trade options for Butters.

Would people be happy to give up our R1 picks in 2026 & 2027 plus McAuliffe and/or Fawcett to land Butters

Nope.

We desperately need Butters but you cannot give up pick 1 plus more for him.

RT wants us to follow the Eagles strategy and trade away the next 5 years for our ‘Tim Kelly’

No No No GIF

Having a laugh? He’s currently the last picked player at the worst team in the comp.

No giving up our 1st this year for anything.

Butters through free agency on big coin I'm fine with but not by trading for him.

If we want to throw future 1sts @ port to keep them happy it should be for one of their other players that can
fill a gap on our list.

All that said I still think he's going elsewhere.

The only way a trade for Butters would make sense for us is if we don't finish last.

If we finish last we have all of the leverage over Port. They can't try and force us to trade for Butters because if we refuse (e.g. taking him in the PSD) + bid on Cochrane at pick 1 they won't have enough points to match using their current picks. So in that scenario we would end up with both Cochrane and Butters and Port would have to take their picks to the draft.

To entice them not to match, we can offer to bid on Walker and not Cochrane and it essentially means they're getting picks 1 (Cochrane) and 11 (pick 7 pushed back after matching bid at pick 3) for Butters.

This is all based on current ladder positions and may change completely by the end of the season.

If we give up pick 1, it also means giving up our 1st pick of the second round compensation, which i don't like.

2 picks for a bloke who can't break into the bottom side with an out of form Faull.

Nice. If it goes that way I'm still sure tigers and Port in some way would trade maybe lower picks to avoid a pretty one sided scenario! Not a fan of screwing teams over. It always comes back. The dodoro approach is toxic
